Chapter 1- Welcome To The New World

Y/N's POV

"You okay?" I asked with groan, gently pushing her off me so I could take an actual breath without her weight pressing down on my lungs. She rolled onto her back and her chest quickly rose and fell as she took short, rapid breaths.

"Y-Yeah.......I-I think I'll be fine" She said after a brief pause, bringing a hand to her chest as I slowly sat up, my back popping in the process.

Blinking a few times my somewhat blurry vision cleared and I looked around to see that we were in a tiny clearing and surrounded by tropical trees on all sides. Tiny incests buzzed around in a nearby bush and if the two of us weren't completely lost it would have been nice to just walk around and take in the sights.

But we were completely lost and sitting around on my ass wasn't going to do us any good. "Can you stand?" I asked and I slowly got to my feet, using a nearby tree to steady myself. She nodded and I offered her my hand as she sat up, which she took. With a strong pull I got her up and she brushed some dust off of her coat before looking around like I had just done. "What do you think that giant mountain thing was?" I asked.

"My guess? Maybe an elder dragon. It has to be. I've just never seen anything like that one before. But we can worry about that later. We need to find the rest of the fleet"

I nodded in agreement and looked out towards the sea, and saw a few waves in between gaps in the tree line. "Do you know where we were supposed to dock?"

"Somewhere along the shore" She replied. "Hopefully we can follow the coast and run into  the Astera eventually"

"And not get eaten in the process" I added, drawing my knife from the scabbard on my back.

"Well aren't you all sunshine and rainbows" She said, giving me a gentle push, probably to try and lighten the mood.

"I try to be" I said before looking ahead. "But let's get going shall we?" Without another word we started walking in what I hoped would be the general direction of Astera.

After walked a ways I pushed a large bush to the wide and spotted something up ahead I didn't expect to see so soon. It was a tent, clearly battered by the elements as long cuts and holes could be seen all over it, the opening had particularly collapsed and on top of that it looked almost barren on the inside. "Thing whoever set that up left any goodies for us?" I asked as we walked up to it.

"Only one wet to find out" She said, dropping to one knee before crawling inside, and while she did I turned around, and did my best to scan the redline for anything dangerous. But all I saw was more trees and a bright blue beetle crawling across the ground.

"Hey! I found a map! Or part of one at least" The girl, who's name I didn't even know came back out and hopped to her feet with what looked like a small book in her hands, and when our gases meet she flipped it open and held it out, letting me see a rather crude map. Chicken scratch lines showed vague outlines of the terrain of what I could only guess was part of the continent we were on, but the lack of anything identifiable made it hard to be sure.

"I think this is where we are" She said, pointing to the part of the map thing could have been the earstern side, and on the other side of her palm was a tiny star I had just noticed. She lived her finger to the star and flashed me a smile. "And I think this is Astera"

"You sure?" I asked, feeling me eyebrow raising alongside my question. "Yes!" She replied energetically, suddenly grabbing my wrist with one arm and tossed me the book with the other. I managed to catch it and shove into the small pouch on the left side of my belt before she started to drag me up a small incline, trees and shrubs flanking is on either side.
