Krystal's POV

Today was the big day. One of the most important days of being a cheerleader. Homecoming Friday. To say I was nervous was a complete understatement. Being on the cheer team and football team, we were allowed to skip all classes today to prepare, which meant the girls and I have been practicing since 8am this morning. It was now around 12 in the afternoon. We were all tired, nervous, moody, and hungry, so I knew it was best to just cut practice for now and meet back up later.

"Alright ladies, let's bring it in!" I yelled, as all 18 girls gathered around. "I am so proud of the hard work y'all have been putting in, and I know you're hot and tired. I'm gonna give us a well needed break so y'all can rest up and get some HEALTHY food in your system. No Mcdonald's, Naomi!" I stated, eyeing Naomi, the one girl on the cheer team who never eats healthy.

"We will meet up here again at 6:30. Be ready,
mentally and physically! It's time to pop as much glitter on your eyes as y'all can." I finished, causing a round of laughter.

I've always been one to keep a promise, so I was getting all my shit together to go to Marissa's dorm to help her get ready, and get ready over there myself. We had to be at the stadium at 6:30, but since I'm captain I have to be there at 6.

I got a few texts from Vonte saying him and his family were coming to support me, so I know they'll be sitting with my family. His family has always loved me, they said I brought out the best in him. I wonder how they're gonna react to him getting an escort pregnant, but I don't even have time to think about that right now. I have to go the rest of this night with a clear mind or else I'm not going to execute properly, and we can't afford that.

The team we're going against just so happened to be Jackson State. They aren't our rivals, but we tend to always have a good competition with them, always taking the win in the end. JSU's cheer team was actually a real competition, so any slip ups tonight were absolutely unacceptable. As nervous as I was, I was also beyond excited.

"You're leaving already?" Shay asked me, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm going to one of the girl's dorms to get ready." I said nonchalantly, zipping up my cheer backpack and putting it on one shoulder.

"Damn Krystal, I bother you that much?" She scoffed, sitting on her bed with a towel wrapped around her.

I chuckled, mumbling a nice 'you wish' and made my way out of our dorm. I was in no mood to give her the attention she wanted, I'm too focused on tonight to care about anyone. Except for Jonathan.

We talked briefly this morning after my practice. He had his son with him and seemed to be in high spirits, enjoying his tour. It still felt wrong to talk to him after what I did with Vonte, and I was still very confused on that whole situation, but tonight wasn't the night to think about it.

I made it to Marissa's dorm and knocked on it. I could hear a lot of scuffling being made, and she eventually opened up the door. She lived in a one bedroom dorm, meaning this girl either got blessed with a no show roommate or she was rich as hell.

"Sorry, I just got out the shower. Come in!" She rushed out, completely out of breath as she walked over to her closet.

"I showered and shit so I'm gonna let you get your life together while I put on this uniform and do some makeup." I told her, taking off our cheer warm up suit and pulling out the uniform from my bag.

"I still don't know what to wear to this party." She whined.

"Dress comfortable, trust me. You're gonna be tired and sweaty from cheering and shit." I told her, putting on my uniform. I lotioned up my legs and made sure to put on extra deodorant for tonight.
