He looked into the mirror. Staring back at him was the nervously blank expression of a 16 year old boy. Over and over he rehearsed in his head, "hey. Hi, how are yuh'. How're you doing?"

The boy made sure the last sound ended on the right note. Not sounding too excited or too uninterested. The perfect pitch for a casual interest. Yet this blushed him for he knew this was anything but a casual interest and he was trying so hard to make it sound so.

The bell rang and his head buzzed with fearful anticipation. "Today is the day I'm actually going to say hi," he thought.

He walked with long strides through the hall. His body now forming into that of a man and away from the awkward gangly limbs of a post pubescent boy.

He had no time to think. Any minute now he would pass her and hopefully just hopefully her eyes would catch his this time, like most times. His forehead pulsed with the nerves he knew he had to suffocate till the encounter was over.
