Scene 1
The setting is an interrogation room. There's a table in the room. SANTIAGO's shirt has blood on it and blood on his face. COMMANDER TOM's knuckles are bruised and bloody. SANTIAGO is handcuffed with his arms behind his back while sitting on a chair, and COMMANDER TOM is standing.
COMMANDER TOM. Tell me the fucking truth!
SANTIAGO. I already did!
(COMMANDER TOM punches SANTIAGO)
COMMANDER TOM. Don't make me ask again.
SANTIAGO. I didn't fucking do anything!
(COMMANDER TOM raises his fist again)
SANTIAGO. Just do it.
(COMMANDER TOM lowers his fist)
COMMANDER TOM. You're going to jail. Do you get that?!
SANTIAGO. For what?! I didn't do anythi–!
(COMMANDER TOM punches SANTIAGO in the stomach and knocks the wind out of SANTIAGO. SANTIAGO tries to catch his breath.)
COMMANDER TOM. This will be over as soon as you tell me the truth.
SANTIAGO. (weakly) I already did, man. I swear.
COMMANDER TOM. The stories don't add up.
SANTIAGO. I'm not telling you a story, I'm telling you the truth.
COMMANDER TOM. This isn't looking good for you.
SANTIAGO remains silent.
COMMANDER TOM. We found her lipstick on your face, bruises on her arms and wrists.
SANTIAGO remains silent.
COMMANDER TOM. You assaulted that girl! Fuck you! I have a daughter!
(COMMANDER TOM raises his fist again)
SANTIAGO. Why are you doing this?
(COMMANDER TOM lowers his fist.)
COMMANDER TOM. You did this to yourself, and to her. Don't play the victim now.
SANTIAGO. I said I didn't do anything!
(SANTIAGO tries to free himself and fails.)
SANTIAGO. Your knuckles are probably fucked up, you wanna keep punching me with that?
COMMANDER TOM. The sooner you tell me the truth, the sooner we deal with everything else.
SANTIAGO. It sounds to me like you want me to say that I'm not innocent.
COMMANDER TOM. Is that the truth?
SANTIAGO. No.
COMMANDER TOM. Then why did we hear otherwise?!
SANTIAGO. How the hell should I know? Why don't you take your head out of your North- side-privileged ass and listen?!
(COMMANDER TOM punches SANTIAGO and COMMANDER TOM winces in pain right after .)
SANTIAGO. Alright! I'm sorry!
COMMANDER TOM. Say more dumb shit! Just say it!
SANTIAGO chuckles
COMMANDER TOM. You're laughing? At a time like this?!
SANTIAGO. I'm just not surprised that this is happening to me.
Silence.
SANTIAGO. Am I going to jail?
COMMANDER TOM. Your story isn't looking too good.
SANTIAGO. Don't call it a story; it's not a fucking story. It's what happened.
(COMMANDER TOM raises his fist again.)
SANTIAGO. All right, but if I tell you, please don't hit me anymore, they really hurt...
COMMANDER TOM. (lowers fist) Proceed.
SANTIAGO. (Sighs) Okay, so what had happened was...
(Blackout)
