Chapter 1.
So you can see why the school term is a dreaded thing. Okay i'm not a total loser, I do have friends but they aren't exactly popular.
My best friend Zoe is by far the prettiest in the group. Don't let her fool you, she may be blonde but she is definitely not dumb. Like most blondes, she has big green eyes. She's also the happiest and most confident so she could definitely become friends with the populars but she's loyal and would never let a best friend down just to run off with them.
Jess is another girl in the group. Let's just say if you picture the nerd that sits at the front of the class and sucks up to the teacher, you would be picturing Jess. Don't get me wrong, she's pretty just not what boys would call 'bangable'.
And me? Well, I have brown hair and blue eyes. I'm not exactly skinny but I'm not overweight. You can call me fat but I just prefer the word curvy.
Throughout my thoughts my eyes fix onto the footballers playing on the field we're in. I focus in on one in particular. His names Luke. He's been my crush for god knows how long. He is everything you could wish for in a guy. He's cute, athletic, brainy and has the best body ever. Seriously, think about Abercrombie models, Luke is better. Watching him play football is even better when he isn't wearing a shirt. Just as I'm raking my eyes over his body he turns and looks in my direction, not only that, he winks at me. WINKS AT ME! Then that signature smirk is plastered onto his face as he flexes his muscles and turns around.
"Emma, are you even listening?" Zoe's voice brings me back to reality.
"mm, what?" Zoe shakes her head and laughs.
"You were daydreaming again. I was talking about coming down to my house at the weekend, there's a party near the river. Thought it would be fun, seen as we haven't seen each other much throughout summer"
The good thing about Zoe is you don't have to talk much because she does it all for you. She's a total chatterbox but she's also extremely observational.
"I was not daydreaming!" I almost shout. I can feel my cheeks burning up from just that.
"You totally were! Doesn't have anything to do with Luke does it?" she chuckles adding a wink in my direction.
As if it's possible, I feel my cheeks burn up even more. She must have seen our exchange! She had to! I quickly turn away to hide my embarrassment.
"oh, come on, you know I was only joking. Anyway, you didnt answer my question."
I turn my head back. "what question?"
She smiles and says "about coming down to the river party near my house on Saturday?"
"oh, umm. Yeah sure."
She squeals "YAY! I've got the perfect dress you could wear for the party!"
A few heads turn towards us after her squealing and I simply duck my head. "erm I didn't say anything about wearing a dress. You know I hate showing my legs!"
"pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaseeeee. You have the best legs out of all three of us. I would kill to have legs like yours and the dress would suit you so much!" she pouts and looks up at me through her eyelashes. I mean as if that's going to work on me.
"fine! Just stop doing that face!" I turn back to the football field and see the match is over and half the boys have already walked away. I search for Luke and see him heading straight toward me and Zoe.
"DOUBLE YAY!" Zoe screeches again. She's grinning too, I can hear it in the way she blabbers on about what she's wearing and what my dress looks like. I zone out as I watch Luke crossing the field. The way his muscles ripple underneath his tight but not too tight polo neck tshirt. There's a sharp jab into my ribs that makes me turn towards Zoe. I raise my eyebrow questioningly.
