I have very vivid memories of the 1989 era. This was one of my major growth periods where I tried to figure out who I was and who I wanted to be. The 1989 album to me represents change in my life. I dearly miss this time of my life and just the world during this time.
As we now approach TS7, I'm looking at her two new singles and I'm sort of miserable. Of course I still love Taylor Swift, it's just that I miss TS5 and TS6. I personally feel they don't have the same emotional standpoint as her other albums.
Just recently, I started to relisten to my favorite songs because I go through musical phases of what my ears feel the need to hear. Specifically, I had Out of The Woods on repeat all yesterday and today so far. This has always been one of my favorite songs because I can personally relate to it and I understand what's going on through the chorus. TS7 I feel hasn't gotten to the slow but upbeat tone of her music like 1989 did. It also is a different album and a different experimental period for Taylor.
Since the album doesn't release until August 23, we will have to wait until then to listen to her slow ballads that tend to be at the end of album, not published as a single.
I do understand her viewpoint of going more political on her upcoming album, because the word desperately needs a message like the one she's trying to send out.
Until then...
