"don't slouch.", his mother chastised, her finger flicking seokjin's thigh. it stung enough to make the small boy jump and then fix his posture.

it was late, too late for a school night. seokjin has been sat in this fancy room in these fancy chairs that weren't even comfortable, you'd think rich people could buy more comfortable chairs.

right now he was listening to a man go on some creative and long worded spiel about his father, some stupid appreciation event for his one and only bullshit father.

he would laugh hysterically if he could, his father some great man. his father was never around, his mother always chastising him for being a kid.

( "don't slouch."

"sit up straight."

"don't eat that, you'll get dirty!"

"seokjin, get your feet off the couch! )

the small boy was the perfect model citizen, the perfect chaebol child to the most uptight strict parents in the tabloids.

seokjin had personal drivers, tutors, teachers, everything personalized, a silver spoon in his mouth the day he was born along with the nicest saint laurent onesie, what could the boy possibly complain for?

his childhood wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst. he had every toy, every need and want fulfilled with just a request. however, his parents weren't around and when they were his dad was always on business calls, or his mother drunk and yelling.

as he got older, he started to have a crush on another chaebol family's son, the boy returned the same feelings, they met at a charity auction, hitting it off way too easily as they joked and talked shit about all the wealthy people around them, only there for the looks and what the tabloids could write about what magnificent and good deeds they had done.

the brunet's family knew, they knew he was gay, always sensed it. they were perfectly fine with it, but that wasn't going to happen. they needed a merger of family companies and power before they would ever let their son love someone.

"this is jisoo, she's the daughter of the lee's. you're going to marry her for the company's sake."

lee jisoo daughter of lee jaegyu and lee chanhee, the most powerful company in his city, they had many businesses in the states as well and that was one place his father was trying to grow in, with a marriage, a merging of family and power, his father could get his foot in the door easily.

the idea of marrying jisoo was a punch to the gut, they were sixteen when they met, already given to each other before they even knew the other existed.

they became great friends however, both knowing eventually they would have to be together, it didn't hurt being friendly, it didn't hurt until it truly did.

"i love you."

"i love you too.", seokjin smiled but jisoo shook her head, tears forming in her eyes and seokjin felt confusion bubble in him, ready to ask what was wrong, what he needed to do to help jisoo feel better. they were best friends, they loved each other like brother and sister and seokjin would do anything for her.

jisoo leaned her forehead against seokjin's shaking her tears away. "i love you.", she whispered against his skin, almost as if it would permanently etch it's way on his cheek and into his heart in hopes he would realize. she pressed her lips gently onto seokjin's.
