battling with the heat.

chaewon sprinted her way to the said convenience store. damn, did they even consider the fact that this shit place is far from my house? she thought as she lets out an annoyed groan. before chaewon entered the store, she fixed her tousled hair from the huge wave of wind that slapped her along the way.

"god, finally you've arrived! we're just waiting for hyejoo's musty ass." jungeun exclaimed, a trace of frustration evident in her tone. chaewon lowkey rolled her eyes and took a seat beside yerim while waiting for the missing person in their group.

"so chaewon, you ready?" yerim asked as she looked onto her friend with the usual smiley face. the latter simply looked back at her and flashed an awkward smile while nodding her head before she rolled her eyes for the nth time.

"oh come on, chae! this is gonna be fun!"

"hah, this is definitely gonna be fun." chaewon answered with so much sarcasm, but yerim just giggled it off and thought that her friend might change her perspective about this plan as she eventually gets used to it.

the bell attached to the store's door suddenly hits into a distinct ring, causing heads to turn towards the entrance. a chill and unbothered hyejoo showed through the entrance, earphones plugged on both ears while scrolling through some applications on her phone. yeojin sneakily approached hyejoo in order to remove one of her earphones, which she was able to do successfully, earning a death glare from the one and only.

"oi!" yeojin greeted and flashed a mischievous smile. hyejoo only responded with a nod and continued to scroll through her twitter account.

the others started to fix their things and stood up from their seats, preparing to take off.

"we should go now, guys. it only takes one bus ride to get there. let's go!" yerim stated. the others replied with a simple nod and went outside the store, waiting for a bus to come through.

luckily, they were able to find one. right at the moment they took their seats, they let out a sigh of relief. it is definitely hot for the first day of june, but the aircon somehow helped to lessen the excessive heat emitted by the sun, making them sweat too much and feel exhausted.

they wiped off the sweats trickling on their faces, even jungeun fanned herself using her face towel aggressively. yerim is finally done with fixing herself then she noticed her seatmate, chaewon, whom she assumed that forgot to bring herself a face towel.

"here! fix yourself, chae. i also have some stuff here in case you need it." the dark brown-haired lass handed her face towel to chaewon, in which the blonde lass accepted it, wiping the sweat beads off her forehead and temples.

yerim watched her friend fix herself. and when she's already done, she handed her the face powder that she has, followed by a lip tint with the shade that is usual to chaewon's eyes. she applied a minimal amount of the tint before spreading it around her lips, puckering her lips for a little while after. chaewon finally used the hair tie that has been wrapped around her wrist for hours, settling for a low ponytail.

"oh my god hyejoo, you're going to the ice cream stall with me?!" yeojin gasped in the unexpected news. hyejoo hummed in response. "yeah, i am going with you. seems like jungeun doesn't want anyone from us to accompany her." hyejoo confirmed it once again, giving a mocking look towards the blonde girl across hers and yeojin's seat, evident that she's been sitting with her bag all alone.

"oh yeah, i wouldn't like to spend my working hours laughing my ass off about you burning the buns." jungeun said as she smiled sheepishly, earning a scoff from the jet black-haired girl. the others let out a muffled laugh, including chaewon (as if she isn't capable of burning the entire stall by herself).

the bus ride somehow took a while, but they cannot deny that it is comfortable and fun. they talked about a lot of stuff, but also with respect to the other passengers. haseul must've taught them that much about decency or proper etiquette, but their behavior when all of them are together? hmm.... let's not talk about that.

"starlight beach!" the conductor yelled as a signal of a bus stopping over. the five girls suddenly prepared for going off the bus, clinging onto their backpacks as they wait for the bus to go on a full stop.

"oi! i can see the beach already!" yeojin exclaimed, excitingly pointing her finger towards the window. the others looked over as well, seeing the view of the ocean from afar. hyejoo and jungeun's mouths both formed an 'o' shape, yerim reciprocated the energy being exerted by yeojin, and chaewon won't deny that she found the view very enticing. the palm trees, the beautiful shade of ocean and sky blends so well together as they meet through the horizon, and the sand looks very neat as ever.

their so-called sightseeing was distracted when the bus has finally come to a full stop. they rushed themselves on going off the bus, pretty much excited on what's yet to come for them once they get to see the beach up close.

"wow." that's only thing that jungeun could say the moment they are already in front of the beach's entrance.

yeojin jumped in excitement while clapping both of her hands, as well as yerim giggling with the same excitement as the youngest.

"we definitely have to make some good ass money from here." hyejoo clearly declared while only having her eyes towards the surroundings of the beach.

"i guess." chaewon replied, being distracted by the festive colors of the entrance. there is a hotel over the further right side of the beach, which she assumed as the place that they'll be staying over.

yerim had discussed to them that she already contacted the person in-charge of the stalls, who goes by the name of byun baekhyun. it was also mentioned that each stall will be supervised by different persons, which they'll be meeting once they arrived inside the reception area. since they'll be applying for a summer job within the beach itself, it was stated that they'll have a 50% discount for the hotel reservation, plus with some free perks such as free lunch and dinner for them. but despite of that fact, yerim kept her promise of treating chaewon with snacks or something else.

this really has to be good for me, or else. chaewon thought as she breathes heavily.
