The Coach's Daughter

(1) Things Get Turned Upside Down

Bristol was in the middle of summer practice in Dallas Texas when she seen her aunt walk up to the football field where they were having practice. Bristol was up in a mount as her aunt Katherine walked over to her coach. 

"Hi.. I'm Katherine Thomas Bristol Cooper's aunt. I need to pick her up now we have a family emergency." she said 

"Coop..come down." her coach said 

She did a toe touch and walked over to her aunt "What's up Aunt Katie." she said

"We have a family emergency sweetheart." she said 

Bristol grabbed her stuff and followed her aunt and texted her boyfriend that she was going to have to take a rain check on their date. She got into her aunt's car "What is going on Katie.." Bristol said

"Your mom and John were in a car accident honey. They were t boned at a intersection that's all I know." she said 

She picked her up some tacos from taco bell then they went to the hospital. The doctor came out and said "John and Alexa Thomas's family.." 

"That's us." Katie said 

"So let's start with your brother he has suffered a concussion and a few bumps and bruises and cuts but other than that he is fine. And as far as your sister in law we have done everything we could but she was DOA. The impact of the crash snapped her neck. We are very sorry for you loss." the doctor said 

Bristol looked down and started to cry. She walked away found her phone in her cheer bag in her aunt's car. She called her dad who was standing on a football field hosting his own football practice in Savannah Georgia. 

"Bristol honey .. what are you doing calling me usually its the other way around." Charlie said 

"Dad..mama is gone she was killed in a car accident today. " she said

"What.. oh gosh.. okay baby I'll let my assistant coach take over practice me and Clara will be on the next plane out of here." he said as he hung up.

"hey Allan do you care to handle practice over the next several days.. I have to fly to Texas my ex wife was killed in a car accident and I have to pick up my daughter." Charlie said

"Sure.." Allan said 

Charlie left the football field quickly picked up Clara then they rushed to Atlanta airport to get on the next flight to Texas. Bristol told them how to get to Katie's house since that was where she was staying at after they left the hospital.

Charlie helped with the funeral then it was time to meet with the lawyer to figure out what Bristol was suppose to do. "It appears that you Mr Thomas never said a paper that said she could stay with you if something to happen to her mother. I'm sorry Ms Cooper but you are to live with your dad in Georgia." the lawyer said 

Charlie had all of her stuff shipped to his house while they got on a plane to head to Georgia. Bristol was quiet all the way to Georgia and all the way to their house. She only ever stayed with her during the first few weeks of summer before summer practice began.
