Poem #1

FEAR

I awoke scared 'It is time' I thought

For today, I knew I would see my family again

As I got out of the cot, I quickly packed the little things I had

I boarded the ship that would lead me home

To the place where I belong  

The border of the place I dread came into view

I got off the boat to ask for directions

They did not understand for if I knew my native language I would have a chance

For if I could have stayed I surely would not let my fears drown me away

As night fell and darkness came, I knew what my fate was today

I am scared you see this wasn't meant to be

I am scared for I know my death would come
