Chapter Five

Danielle's P.O.V

I wake up in a strange white room with tubes coming out of my arms, connecting to a machine. There is a breathing machine and a person with a clipboard looking at me. In other words,I'm at a hospital."Hey, Dani. How do you feel?" ask Kayla. I look over to see her sitting on a plastic chair. At her question, a searing pain flares up in my chest, stomach and back. "In pain" I say, trying to smile but failing miserably. "The boys are gonna be here in a couple of hours" she tells me casually. "What boys?" I ask her, she can't possibly mean One Direction, they are in London waiting for me at the airport!! Oh damn, I guess I won't be able to go on tour with them. "Why One Direction silly. Their coming because their worried about you!!" she says grinning. My mouth drops open. I wonder if Liam remembers me. No he probably doesn't, I mean he's famous, why would he care about a poor failure of a girl? Kayla looks down at her phone. She taps a quick reply, and tells me," They're on their way up!" U almost faint. I quickly start combing my hair with my fingers. When it's the best I can make it with out a brush, I lay back down. "Wanna play a trick on them?" I ask her. She nods. " Okay, pretend I'm in a coma, and If they come near the bed Im gonna spring up and say' Hi Guys!!' And scare the crap outta them, got it?" she nods again. I lay down and close my eyes. A couple of seconds later I hear the door open, and feet shuffling in. "Is she okay??" "Is she dead?" "Whats wrong?" "Is she sleeping?" "Is there anything we can do to help her?" All of them asked at once. Kayla played her part perfectly, saying" Sorry guys, but she's in a coma, the doctor said it could be months before she wakes up." I bite my tongue to keep from laughing when some of them laugh. They all crowd around my bed, and say" please wake up Danielle" and stuff like that. But one voice stand out to me, and it's the quietest one. "Dani, please wake up, I love you." It's Liams. I spring up and say "HI GUYS!!!!" Niall and Louis fall backwards, Harry jumps into Zayn's arms, and Liam falls on top of Kayla. Me and Kayla burst out laughing, then a piercing pain starts in my chest, and my laughing turns to crying. Kayla shoves Liam off of her, and comes to my bed, so does everyone else. "Are you okay, Dani?" Liam asks. I manage to nod. The tears finally stop, and I look up at everyone. "I'm okay, my chest just hurt, that's it." I say, looking at each of them in the eyes when I say that. I stop at Liam's, and just stare into them. Niall says, "Should I get the doctor?" and I take my eyes from Liam's and look at Niall. His concerned eyes also have something that surprised me in them. Love. "Uh, no I'm fine" I said quickly. Just then the doctor came in. "Hello Danielle. I have your test results here." He held up a manilla folder. Kayla grabbed it before anyone else could. She opened it and her eyes scanned the page. She handed it to me. I looked at it, and what I saw didn't surprise me.

I closed it and handed it to Niall. He read it then passed it to Harry. They passed it around until everyone had looked at it. The doctor took it back. "Shell be in here for a couple of weeks. But once she gets out, she will have to take it easy, or else her ribs could break again." he then walked out of the room. I just lay there. Weeks. I'll be in here for weeks. I thought I'd be in here for months! "This is great! I'll be out in a couple weeks!!" I grin at everyone. Only Kayla grins back. "Whats wrong guys?" I ask them curiously. Liam responds,"Our tour starts in three weeks, it all depends if you are strong enough by then." I blink, not comprehending it. "And if I'm not..." I trail off. "We won't go on tour until you are." Liam said firmly. I looked up at him, surprised. "Really? You'd do that for me?" "Yes, we will" it's Niall who spoke this time. Zayn, Louis, and Harry nod their heads."Aww thanks guys! I just have one thing to ask you," I gush. "What's that?" Louis asks. I motion for him to come closer. He shuffles forward. "Can Kayla come on tour with us as well?" I whisper in his ear. He grins and nods. "Yes!!" I fist pump. "What?" Kayla asks. "You can come on tour too!!" I tell her excitedly. Her eyes widen, "Really!!" she squeals. "Yeah!" I squeal back. We fangirl for a couple of minutes, before we calm down again. She turns to look at the boys who were watching us, amused. "Thank you so much!!" she says, and hugs them all in turn. I notice that she holds Harry for a bit longer then the others. The boys notice this also,and snicker. Zayn whispers to me, "I think we have a budding romance starting here, huh?" I giggle and say, "Yeah, she's had a crush on him since you guys were on American Idol." he looks at me with his eyes wide, "You were our fans since then!!" he says, amazed. I nod. "And who have you had a crush on since then?" he asks, wiggling his eyebrows. " Not you!" I say laughing. He pretended to look hurt,"Who then?" he asks curiously. I look at him, deciding wether to trust him. "Liam, but don't tell him, or anyone else. Promise?" I tell him seriously. He nods solemnly. "What are you two whispering about over there?" Louis asks, walking over to us. "Nothing!!" Zayn and I say in unison. Louis chuckles, "Sure" he says. Harry sits down in the chair next to Kayla, and they start talking. I think back to yesterday, when I figured out I won the contest, for me that was my last day of twelfth grade. Which I'm happy about, because now I can go to college and not have to come back home everyday to a beating.

*2 Weeks Later*

Danielle's P.O.V

I cant believe I'm getting out of the hospital today! I'm so excited!! The physical therapy I was doing really worked! I feel so much stronger. The doctor came in with two nurses came in. This is it!! I glanced at Liam, who was smiling at me. We've grown close these past couple of weeks. So have Niall and I. They're both so sweet. Niall is hilarious, and has the most witty jokes and comebacks!! The doctor unhooked me from the breathing machine, and took the tubes out of me. When he finished, the nurses went on either side of me, and helped me up. I stood up, and walked over to Kayla. She gave me a bag of clothes to change into. "Thanks!" I say to her. She smiles, and says"Of course, you wouldn't want to be seen in that!" she motioned to the hospital gown, and I laugh. I walk into the bathroom and open up the bag, to see what she have me. I pull out a cute blue and white flowery strapless sundress, white sandals, sunglasses, a brown belt, and a white headband. Gosh I love Kayla. She has an amazing sense of style!! Once I finish changing, I'm about to open the door when I realize there's something else in the bag. Two things actually. One is my purse, I grab it and put it on my shoulder. The other is a black box. I open it to find a gold necklace, bracelet, and matching earrings. There's a note that says:

To Dani,

Just a gift as a celebration of you getting out of the hospital.

Wow, I know he's rich, but wow. That's so thoughtful of him!!

I put on the jewelry, and open the door. As I walk into the room, everyone stands up and looks at me. The boys are standing there, staring at me in awe, and Kayla is smiling at me in approval. I blush from all the attention. Kayla grabs my hand, and smacks each of the boys faces lightly on the way out, and says "C'mon boys, it's time to go. Don't stand there like idiots!" she grinned at me, and I grinned back. We walk out of the hospital, and almost get run over by fans. Okay, what's going on??
