~Charley's POV~
My alarm clock went off sygnaling another long, boring day of school. I stretched and rolled out of bed. My phone dinged. I had a missed call from this morning. I groaned hoping it wasn't my mom and checked the caller ID. I was releved that it wasn't my mom but, at the same time, more worried that it was Eric.
He called again while I was in the process of texting him. I bit my lip and unwillingly answered.
"Hello?" I held my breath waiting for him to respond.
"Why didn't you answer this morning?" He said, his voice gruff.
"I'm sorry, I just woke up." I started to shake a little.
"Now, there is no time to meet up before school."
"I'm sorry, I-" He cut me off.
"I guess you just have to come over tonight." I could tell he was smirking.
"I can't. I have t-" He cut me off again.
"You can, and you will. I don't want to have to punish you for disobeying do I?" My eyes began to burn and there was a clump caught in my throut.
"No." I said softly, looking at my bare feet.
"Good. See you later, Charley." Again I could tell he was smirking. It was in his voice.
The call ende and I got up. I put on a pair of sweatpants and a baggy hoodie. I grabbed my bags and went downstairs. I took one more look at the empty house before stepping into the cool air.
"Hey Charley." Luke hopped beside me.
"Hey Luke." I smiled. His tall figure towered over me.
"Another school day, huh?" He sighed putting his hands in his pockets.
"Yep. Same ol' hell hole." I laughed.
"Just wait 'till we're out of there. This year ends the torture." We both laughed.
"Can't wait until it's over," I paused, "but, I'm going to miss you." He pulled me into his side.
"Don't say that. We'll always be together. We'll always be best friends." I looked up at him. His eyes glistened in the morning light.
"How do you know for sure?" I asked.
"Because I know." He looked at me and smiled.
The rest of our walk was quiet and pieceful. There were a few laughs here and there but, it was all around a nice morning.
As we neared the school I saw Eric leaning against the bricks. He saw me and stood up straight. He smirked and motioned me to come over to him.
"I'll see you later Luke." I said pretending I wanted to see Eric.
"Okay. See you later, Charley." He waved and I walked over.
"Good morning." He said smiling. I looked down.
"Hi." I nearly whispered. He put his hand on my chin and lifted my face to look at him.
"Why so sad?" He chuckled. Then Ricki walked over to us, forceing me to act like I was happy beside Eric.
"Hey love birds." She winked at me.
"Hey Ricki." I said. I hated pretending. Especially pretending to actually want to be with Eric. I wanted my friends to know but Eric would kill me.
We walked into the building and found our lockers.
"I'll see you tonight." Eric winked. He kissed me roughly before walking to his first class. When I saw that no one was looking at me I quickly wiped my lips.
