In a deep, dark void filled to the brim with nothingness; there was a tiny ever shining shard of light. Although this sliver of light seemed as if it was burning, it was actually freezing cold. The shard floated in the Void for timeless years, pulsing with frozen beauty. All was at peace until one small moment when the shard started to swell. Bursting in a brilliant flash of light, the shard expanded into an icy land.
From this newly born land came the creature Ice, a humanoid being crafted of snow and ice. Ice became lonely quickly, so he formed others like him out of the frozen scales of his skin. Ice was pleased and called his creations the Ice race. For many years the Ice race flourished with Ice as their leader, building glittering palaces and gigantic fortresses. Over time there were many of the Ice race, but one in particular became more dauntless than the others. This single Ice being was called Pine.
Pine explored every inch of the Ice Land, always finding something new and exciting. On one of her such adventures, Pine discovered a spark. Unbeknownst to her, the spark was a dangerous thing, for it could burn. Pine took a long stick of wood as a method of precaution and touched the spark. The miniscule piece of fire stirred and consumed the unaware Pine in fiery fury. The flames raged and clashed until a figure was seen within them. The figure stepped out, a being of fire and magma. A new leader had emerged, Fire.
Fire, formerly Pine, looked around at the frosty land and thought, "Fire has no place here." So she left the barren land in search of a place to sustain a newer race of Fire. Many days she trekked until at long last she found an area far away from the Ice race. Fire sent out tiny flames from her palms, each flame transforming into a separate being. This is how the Fire race was born.
Over time, heat from the Fire race travelled across their land and reached the borders of the Ice land. A group of Ice beings wandered toward the wave of heat, curious as to what it was. They leaned too close to the warmth and were melted into puddles of water. A sudden breeze seemingly out of nowhere blew the melted creatures into a new land, sending them tumbling and whirling, shaping them in a humanoid form. The first of these water creatures to be formed crowned his self the leader, Water. The melted puddles, now full creatures stood and became the last race, the Water race.
The three eldest races were unaware of each other's presences for many decades, living and enjoying their own ways. The leaders of each race soon found that they were no longer alone in the land; and so they arranged a cordial event on a deserted island floating aimlessly in the Void to meet. With each leader came a large group of suspicious beings. Each member of the races brought with them weapons in case this peaceful meeting turned ominous. The leaders Ice, Fire, and Water stepped forward from the crowd to exchange a treaty. As Ice reached out to shake Water's hand in a friendly gesture, he froze Water's hand. When Fire took her turn to shake both of the other leaders' hands, she melted Ice's arm and evaporated Water's. An outrage prowled around the three leaders as it became clear that they could not live in peace and harmony. Fire was the first to attack.
A full battle soon unfolded on the island, Races brawling and throwing weapons this way and that. The Fire race was evaporating water and melting ice beings. The Ice Race had begun forming giant ice javelins and piercing members of the Fire Race through. Cries of loss and woe were heard across the battlefield, echoing all around. The war tore apart the races that long night, all fell except for one from each race.
The one from the Water Race dropped to her knees and wept at the thought of her departed friends. A kindly soul from the Ice Race that had survived came up and spoke comforting words. The sole survivor of the Fire Race looked down at his hands, astonished and horrified at the death and destruction he had caused. The three survivors came together in a place away from the battle ground and swore to keep a treaty of peace for all time,
The remaining beings talked through the night and into the next day, debating what should happen next. An idea struck the remnant of the Ice Race, an idea to create a young being, a new life to populate the lonely island made of dirt and rock. The Water being instantly agreed to the idea, starting to quickly and skillfully form mud out of the dirt on the island. Nodding reluctantly, the Fire being dried the forms of the created life. As two creatures made of earth were shaped, the Ice being blew a freezing breath into them; this breath cold enough to shock anything into life. Wide-eyed and timid, the earthlings stared in awe at their creators. The trio of creators smiled at them and began to give them gifts.
From the Fire Race, the being of Fire sent stars and a moon up to the dark sky to light even the darkest of nights; and gave the Earthlings the power to use fire. He also gave them a season of warmth and joy, Summer. The next gifts were from the Water being. She gave them rivers and lakes to sustain and quench their thirst. The season of Spring was created by the being of Water, as a time of growth and hope. The only thing given to the Earthlings from the Ice being was the season of Winter, a season of renewal and reflection. The creators decided they needed an extra season, so they set a season of change, Autumn. With their gifts, the Earthlings celebrated their creators and sent them thanks and appreciation.
The legacy of the elder races returned to their own lands to watch over the Earth land. They watched it expand and flourish, day by day, year by year. They became quiet, seeing that the Earth land was independent. Their work was finished, a perfect creation to discover and learn; the Human Race.
