"Gah!" The old man growled. "This is the last one."
I drank whatever substance he gave me. Everyone vanished. As did all the electronics. I was alone. But I heard someone. A voice in my head.
Mark.
He appeared next to me.
"Hey." He said.
I smiled at him. I looked down at my wrists that were still tied.
Dang It.
And then they broke.
I got off of the uncomfortable platform. I was instantly met by a pair of lips. Feeling uncomfortable with this situation, I tried pushing him away, but he grabbed my wrists.
That does NOT help.
I struggled with getting him off of me. I gritted my teeth as I pushed him away with my foot. I threw my wrists out of his grip and pushed him away. Even though I barely touched him, he went flying back.
I jumped up, with my heart pounding in my head. The old man sighed of relief.
"I didn't expect you to complete that test," He snickered. "Time to work."
"Work?" I questioned.
"Yes," He said. "That is why I tested you."
"What!?" I exclaimed.
I thrashed around in my place. A strong hand pulled my head back and I felt something pressed into my neck.
"You said.." I started. "No needles.."
"I lied." I heard and I went unconscious.
I woke up in agony. I was actually alone.
"H-Hello?" I called.
Nothing.
"Hello?" I called louder.
"Hmph..." I heard.
"Hello!" I exclaimed.
Someone jumped. Shuffling feet came my way. Darren rubbed his eyes as he looked over me. He turned his head to look behind him, then grabbed papers and scissors. He cut my restraints and handed me the papers.
"Go up those stairs, and you'll get to your apartment complex." He said. "These papers explain everything."
He shoved me up and out of the dark room. I stumbled up the steps and a dark moon shined on me. I ran inside and to my apartment. I saw a note on my door. It was Mark.
Hey, I wanted to check up on you but you weren't here. Text me when you get back.
~M
In tiny little writing, was his phone number. I took the paper and turned my doorknob.
Locked.
Are you kidding me?!
I sighed and knocked on Mark's door. I heard shuffling feet and the door opened. His hair was a mess, he wore his Markiplier pajama pants, and he wasn't wearing a shirt. I blushed and looked down.
"I'm locked out of my apartment." I mumbled just barely loud enough for him to hear.
"Oh," He said sleepily. "Hold on."
He walked away but left the door open. I walked inside and he came back to me with his glasses on. He grabbed a paper clip and his phone. He turned the flashlight on and handed it to me. I followed him out and he picked the lock on my doorknob.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"No problem." He leaned in and pecked my cheek.
Why did I do that?!
I giggled and opened my door.
"I'll see you later." I waved to him and went inside my apartment. I fell on my couch and went into a deep slumber.
I heard a soft knock on my door as I opened my eyes.
"Come in.." I mumbled.
Mark cracked the door open and stepped inside. He kneeled down beside the couch. I smiled at him.
"I'm sorry," He said just above a whisper. "For last night. I shouldn't have done that, we aren't to that level yet-"
"Mark," I put my hand on the side of his face. "It's okay."
He sighed and leaned his head into my hand.
"Did you say 'we aren't to that level yet?'" I asked.
Mark's eyes fell down from mine.
"Mark?" He looked back up. "Do you like me?"
Yes, I do. I really really do.
I smiled.
"I like you back."
"Did you just read my mind?" He asked jokingly.
"Yes."
The light shining in was really killing the moment. The sound of curtains closing filled my ears. Mark's eyes widened and he shuffled back.
"H-How did you do that?" He whimpered.
"Do what?" I looked behind me.
The curtains had closed on their own.
