"Nevaeh, get up!" A male voice called.
Nevaeh Lycan-Ro'Meave sighed as she pulled her covers off, and rubbed her eyes. "Coming, papa!" She called back.
"Why today?" She groaned as she stood up, using her bedside table to steady herself. The half werewolf made her way over to her walk-in closet and opened the doors.
She was flooded with clothing options but just picked out a shirt and a pair of jean shorts. She wasn't into being fancy, despite her family's social standing. She got changed in the closet and opened the door once her shorts were on properly.
"Nevaeh, now!"
"I'm doing my hair, dad, chill!" She yelled back, walking over to her vanity. Her hair was rather choppy so it was difficult to make look good, normally she'd just tame it and slap on a hat over it, which is exactly what she decided to do this time. She picked a hat that matched her shirt and ran downstairs before her fathers could yell at her anymore.
"Oh good, you're finally ready." Zane sighed. Zane was certainly her more stricter parent, Aaron was very carefree when it came to what she wanted to do. He didn't want her to have a sheltered childhood like he did.
"Are you ready for school now?" Aaron asked, kneeling down to look his daughter in the eyes.
Something worth knowing about Nevaeh... She's short. Very short... And boy do her fathers take advantage of it. She's used to it though, everyone else does too.
"Yes, dad. Who's picking me up?" She asked.
Just as Nevaeh said that, a loud car horn was heard.
"Find out." Zane laughed.
Nevaeh sighed, walking out of the double doors of her house. Outside in the courtyard was a red convertible, Nevaeh immediately knew who it was without looking up. Blaze Redwood and his daughter, Flare.
Blaze was her dad, Aaron's best friend, and Nevaeh's godfather. He was married to Aaron's ex-fiance, Aphmau Shalashaska.
Aaron and Aphmau may have seemed in love, and they were but over time they realised it was too dangerous for them to be together. Too many things came for them during their relationship, the minute they broke up... Everything went back to normal.
Nevaeh ran over to the car, and opened the back door, getting in next to Flare and buckling her seatbelt.
Flare seemed to contrast Nevaeh, her bright red hair worked well against Nevaeh's black hair and they wore two different shades of purple.
"Aren't you excited?" Flare asked, squealing a little. She definitely inherited Aphmau's peppy personality.
"It's our sophomore year, Flare. I wasn't even excited for our freshmen year. School sucks." She mumbled, pulling her phone out and beginning to play a game as the car.
"Oh c'mon, Nevvie! We can meet new friends!" Flare giggled.
"First off, don't call me Nevvie, I've told you that countless times. Secondly, I don't want to make new friends." Nevaeh growled.
"Nevaeh, the Shadow Knights really aren't a good influence on you! Hang out with me and Yuki! We're much better!" Flare said proudly.
Yuki was the son of Katelyn and Nana Ashida. He was Nevaeh's best friend when they were younger but since entering high school, they had a really bad falling out.
"No offence, Flare, but aren't you guys like... Really unpopular?" Nevaeh pointed out.
"I know but the Shadow Knights are delinquents and-"
Flare was cut off by the car roughly coming to a stop at a red light. She continued once the car started moving again.
"They're delinquents and I'm worried about you! What if they hurt you?" She whined.
"They're my friends, Flare. I doubt they'd hurt me." Nevaeh sighed again, shoving her phone back into her pocket.
After a few minutes of silence as Flare was unable to think of a comeback to Nevaeh's statement, the car stopped outside the school.
Their school was not Phoenix Drop High, rather it was Irene Academy. Despite its name, Irene Academy wasn't a private school. It was a public school that luckily, didn't require uniforms, however it still had the classic dress code rules. No short skirts, no crop tops, no open toed shoes, all that jazz.
"Yo, Nevaeh! Over here!" A meif'wa yelled wearing a skull hairband yelled.
Nevaeh ran over to her, leaving Flare to find Yuki on her own.
"What's up, Mia? Where's Kira and Zander?" She asked.
The meif'wa, revealed to be Mia, pushed a piece of white hair behind her ear and shrugged, "Knowing them, they're probably late. Let's just go to the bleachers and wait for them."
Nevaeh nodded and followed her over to the bleachers. They both sat down at the top and Mia started drawing on the back of one with a paint marker.
Those bleachers were covered in graffiti, all from Nevaeh and her friends. Nevaeh spent the time she was waiting, scratching the white paint off of them with her sharp nails. After about five minutes of waiting, a blue haired boy and a red hair girl came running over.
"Sorry we're late! Kira insisted on making out before meeting up with you guys." The boy, presumably Zander, laughed nervously.
The girl, most likely Kira, giggled, "But I love you, baby!"
"I love you too." He sighed, putting an arm around her when they sat down.
"Are you guys ready for the Shadow Knights to finally take over Irene Academy?" Mia asked.
"You know it." Zander smirked.
"Obviously. I've been ready since I joined." Kira gave a thumbs up, laying her head on Zander's shoulder.
"It's about time we show Irene Academy what the Shadow Knights can really do." Nevaeh smirked too, crossing her arms.
