<Carl's POV>

Judith - Age 3/Carl - Age 17

"Whatever you do, don't come down until they're gone." He said, handing me his revolver. He took a gun from out of the bag and handed me the rest. "You know where to go, we'll be there." He turned away, about to leave.

"Dad!" I yelled. He turned and looked back at me. "What about Judy and Mia?"

"I gave you everything in there for them." He said. He quickly came back to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "I love you Carl. I'll tell Maggie that Mia is okay, but I also have to tell her about Glenn."

I nodded, feeling tears sting my eyes.

"I love you too."

He hugged me tight, when letting go he kissed Judith's head. He held Mia's tiny baby hand and studied her features a bit (she mostly had Maggie's looks) before looking at me one last time and leaving.

That is probably the last time I would see him. I thought. There are too many out there, none of them could make it.

I picked up Mia into my arms and held Judith's tiny hand, leading them up the ladder. I heard yelling and frantic gunshots from outside. I tried my best to ignore that and the tears. I handed Mia to Judith after she flopped onto the mattress. I pulled up the ladder leading to the attic and I sat down next to Judith.

"Carl?" Judith said sweet-fully, but it mostly came out like 'Kahel'. "Is daddy coming back?"

I froze a bit as she said those words.

Is daddy coming back?

"I don't know Judy." I spoke silently. "I hope so."

Judith huffed, sticking out her lower lip.

"What about Mimi's daddy?" she spoke, giving Mia's nickname as she asked. "What about Cowgirl Maggie?"

I wanted to chuckle at the names she gave to everyone, but I felt to heartbroken to know they might come back, and that I'm lying to my own baby sister.

"Mimi's daddy isn't going to come back." I said, looking to her.

"Glenny won't come back? Where is he?"

"He's in a different place, protecting others."

"What about Cowgirl Maggie? Is she with Glenny?"

"She's not with him. Maggie is with dad."

It was like that for everyone. Carol (There was no nickname for her), Daryl (Arrow Daryl), Beth (Bethy), Tyreese (Ty), Michonne (Ninja), Tara (Tara Bear). And with every one of them, I lied to her about them.

I just knew for sure, with all those gunshots and screaming.

Nobody was coming back to us.
