Jai's Pov

Of course, it was my twin sister; I knew it was her the moment I felt her weight crushing my poor legs. She had this bad habit of diving on top of me even when I was asleep. She didn't care that she was no longer a small girl and this jumping me actually did hurt. Even at 24 she hadn't outgrown this annoying habit of hers.

Mama always reminded her that other girls her age were married with kids. Personally, I preferred that she hang onto some of her childhood habits. Sometimes being an adult was overrated.

Instead of waking me up like a normal person, she would throw herself onto me like a mad wrestler. One of these days she was going to break some bones.

I pushed her off me as hard as possible and she hit the floor hard. I did derive some pleasure in seeing her writhing on the floor in pain. She totally deserved it. I looked down on the floor and smiled at her. She was rubbing her backside with a wide grin on her face.

"You should know better by now."

"Hmmm, I will get back at you one of these days." She then sat on top of my duvet cover cross-legged and started twirling her waist length dark brown hair around her fingers.

I knew she wanted to beg for something whenever she did this. Even those puppy dog eyes she was throwing my way, were not working. I was immune to them.

"Before you say anything, if it will get me arrested or injured or cost me money, I want none of it." She threw her head in laughter her pearly whites on display.

She bent forward and grabbed my arm with both hands and laid her head on my lap.

"Big brother, don't be like that." I raised an eyebrow. Oh god whenever she acknowledged that I was older than her I knew I would like the idea even less. I deeply sighed.

"Whatever it is I can't afford it. The money we got should last us a whole month and that's including an apartment for me. Mom and dad were very particular about this."

"No, no it won't cost you a thing. Ok, not much. Maybe an Uber to and fro. Cover charge, Sophie swears it isn't much. Or better yet we could take the subway, we might as well know our way around town sooner or later.

Before you say no it will also cost you a drink or two, I'm sure non-alcoholic drinks won't cost as much. Dada (Granddad) slipped me a bit of money before we left so I won't expect you to pay for everything exactly. I'm not a brute."

I laughed out loud. She knew that whatever argument I could come up with she would counter it.

"Brother, this is the last time we are going to be together for a while. I need this, you need this. One last hurrah for the ages." She knew exactly how to emotionally tug my heartstrings.

"Fine, where are we going this time?" She squealed in excitement and hugged me and I fell on my back. She scrambled next to me and we lay side by side as we usually did.

"There's this club I have heard about from Soph and she's says its the best club in town and very popular in our community."

I reached out for my phone. I wasn't  interested in clubbing. Been there done that. It was sometimes just too damn loud and more often than not I always woke up the next day with a killer hangover.

I could think of better ways to spend my Saturday night. I would rather be in a pub nursing a cold lager watching cricket.

"If you say yes I will owe you big time." I could count the many favours she owed and never fulfilled. My sister was flaky and selfish but I loved her and she knew how to take full advantage of me.

"I know what you are thinking, but this time I swear. You name it I will do it for you."

"Fine. We will be back by midnight."

"Come on. Who leaves the club that early? I'm willing to be back at least 3am." I laughed out loud.

"Fine, one thing though. What excuse are we supposed to use to go out? I don't see our great aunt giving us permission to leave."

"I know that. That's were you come in. It's ridiculous, I'm in my mid twenties and I can't leave the house without permission or an escort.

I wish I was still at college, at least I could do or go wherever I wanted. You just need to tell her that you have a work party and I'm your plus one.

With you as my chaperone they won't ask much. I have already talked to one the maids; she will open for us when we come in. She better open because it cost me one of my favourite pair of shades."

"Fine, but don't go disappearing on me. I always have to look for you. You always forget about me." She cackled in laughter her white teeth shining brightly in the morning light.

Our parents had a paid a fortune to get them straight and white, a fact I always reminded her of whenever she became too vain, which was a lot.

"You know me so well. This time though, I'm doing it for you brother. You need new friends when I leave.

Who will you spend your free time with when I'm no longer around? Maybe we can meet new people. All you need to do is to relax and enjoy yourself."

My sister was so reckless, I never got to relax and enjoy myself whenever we went out. She was a beautiful girl and half the time I had to ward off guys.

The worst part was that she encouraged their attentions and when it got overwhelming she would seek my help. I had had one too many black eyes because of her.

She always kissed my forehead whenever I was nursing one of the many bruises I had because of her. Ioved her, she was my literal other half. A fact she kept reminding me.
