I woke up at my usual time for the first day of school. My mum and dad had always made me go to bed early since I was 12, but my birthday was coming soon. I headed downstairs for breakfast. I had my usual morning meal, cereal and orange juice. I went to the downstairs restroom after eating. Getting ready for school was easy to me. I put on my uniform, which was a white dress shirt with the school patch on it, combed my brown hair, brushed my teeth, and put on my black boots.
I put my jacket on and was fixing to leave the house, she my mum yelled. "Zoe, forgetting something?" I walked down to basement and unlocked the door. My mum was waiting at on the other side of the door, and my dad right behind her. "Sorry, forgot" I was hoping not to get grounded, since this wasn't the first time I had to be reminded. "You ar..." My mum began. Dad interrupted, "It's ok this time, get to school."
I went through the woods like usual to get to school, and arrived with perfect timing. I headed to class through the popular kids and sat down in the back row of the science labs, where a name tag had been placed for me. The seat next to be said "Dylan" which I didn't know. "Class, I'd like you to meet Austin." Oh..this was the guys sitting next to me. My blonde hair, blue eyed cheerleader bff, Megan was sitting in front of me along with my other bf Conor which was black haired, green eyed, and played football. Austin was also blonde, but had brown eyes, that seemed to be hiding something, kind of like my parents.
"Let me guess..Whales?" Mr.Mitch asked Dylan. Dylan was now shaking his head in disagreement, then finally said "I'm form the United States......Sir." Everyone was pretty surprise at that point, even me. Dylan sat down next to me, and gave me a slightly fake smile, kind of like the expression in his eyes.
Lunch finally came! I had been starving through 4 period, and was ready to eat. I sat down next to Megan and Conor, who were talking about sports again. I just looked over at Dylan. "Should...," I started. Apparently Megan was listening , and finished for me "We go sit by him?" Tom nodded. We all walked over there, while everyone just stared at us.
"Hi..this is Conor and this is Megan," I said as I pointed to them. He looked at me. "Oh, and I'm Zoe," I said smiling. He smiled back, still more fake then real. All I could think about were his eyes, so I asked. "What's with your eyes?" He looked at me. "There just brown..." He replied.
"No, its not that... You just always seem to be hiding something..." I said as Conor, Megan and Austin looked at me. Before Dylan could reply, the bell rang, plus it didn't look like he wanted to answer that question... So, I gave him the day.
The next day, while walking into school the popular boys seemed to be trying to break down Dylan. Yet, he wasn't breaking down like most, and was clinching his fist in a mad manner. Only I knew what was fixing to happen. I grabbed Austin and pulled him into the photography club room (which was Conor, Megan's, and mine.)
Dylan looked at me with his hiding eyes. "You might wanna run," he said in a sorry voice. Next thing I knew, there was a a white wilf with gold eyes, standing I the place of Dyaln. "Dylan calm down!" I said as Austin ran around the room. "It's ok.. I promise." He didn't seem to be believing me, so there was only one thing to do....
As I kneeled down Dylan (or the wolf Dylan) came slowly walking up to me. Since I wasn't able to become a full wolf yet, my eyes were the only thing I was able to change. So I looked at Dylan as my eyes changed from grey, to a bright silver. He sat there looking at me, then in a split second, the wolf was gone, and there sat Dylan looking at me.
Mr.Mitch came knocking on the door. "Every thing all right in there?" Mt.Mitch asked through the door. As my eyes changed back to grey, I unlocked the door, and then opened it. "Yeah, Dylan here just got a little upset." I looked back at Dylan, who was pretending to wipe his fake tears. "It's ok Zoe, thanks for helping," Mt.Mitch said smiling, then stopped while looking back at the boys.
The bell finally rang for lunch, and this time I sat with Dylan. Megan and Conor looked at me for a second, but then seemed to be ok with me sitting by him. "So, why'd you move here?" I asked. "Foster dad got a job here," he replied. "Foster?" He looked at me, this time with an expression of sadness in his eyes. "My mom left me when I was 1," he said in a sad manner. He started smiling "Or should I say mum?" I started laughing. "Why yes, it is mum."
"So, you wanna maybe hang out after school?" Dylan asked. I smiled. "How about the woods?" I said in an agreed tone. "Sounds good to me," Dyaln said smiling. "So, how'd you do the thing with your eyes," he asked, confused. "How about I show you later?" I said smiling. He nodded. The bell rang before i could say anything else.
School was finally over, and it was time to meet Dylan. "Bye guys! See ya later!" I yelled to Conor and Megan. "Bye!" They yelled back. I hadn't ever told them, what I was. So it was hard always keeping secrets from them. Yet now, instead of hiding from a friend I was teaching. Yet, somehow I was also the one being taught.
