I didn't leave for the second half of Daniel's tour like I had planned. I decided to stay back in Nashville and help Patty with Denny's care. He doesn't require much, but to be honest, his heart attack scared me. It made me realize that I shouldn't take every day for granted. It's cliche, but the saying, 'tomorrow isn't promised' is true.
I think Caleb had the same idea, because he hasn't left since Denny's heart attack either. We've spent a lot of time together in the past two weeks. It's strange how well we get along, but I definitely don't hate it. I'm also embarrassed to say, but sometimes I forget about Daniel when Caleb and I are together.
"Ugh. I just miss you so damn much." Daniel says on our video chat. "When I see you again, I'm locking us into a room and we're not leaving for days!"
I laugh and feel myself blush. "Just two more weeks, and we can do that. Have a good show tonight. I love you!"
"Thank you, Kerrigan. I love you too."
"Ack....barf!" Caleb quips as he walks into the livingroom.
"Shut your face, Caleb." I say as I flip him off. "You can't have my country boy. I found him first."
Caleb playfully pushes me over as he sits down on the couch. "You're hilarious, Rhys."
I laugh as I lie down, poking Caleb's ribs with my foot and stretching my legs across his lap. "So what we doing tonight?"
"We?" Caleb asks, taking my legs off his lap. "What makes you think I don't already have plans?"
"Sorry. I just thought maybe you'd want to go downtown tonight or something." I say, pulling my legs back to my side of the couch.
Caleb always gets this way when Daniel and I talk on the phone or video chat. It seems like he's jealous, but he can't be. Can he?
"What's with you?!" I ask. Whatever his issue is, he doesn't need to take it out on me.
"You do know that relationships like that don't work, right?" Caleb spits out, but he doesn't take his eyes off the tv.
I'm instantly angry. "What the hell makes you think you know anything about relationships, Dr. Phil? What Daniel and I have works for us! So even if the next thing you're gonna tell me is some stupid example of why it won't, I don't want to hear it!"
I stood up and stormed to my room. I could feel Caleb following me, saying "Kerrigan! Kerrigan, just stop." But I was done listening to what he had to say.
