Chapter 7

I kept walking but pulled my blade out to be safe.I was was a little scared but I would be fine.I heard something walk through a puddle and I looked in that direction.I saw a little golden retriever pup.I picked him up and looked to see if he had an owner.I didn't see any tags and decided to keep him.I kissed his head and saw my red lipstick stain on his fur and called him Red.I carried him home and was happy to have a new part of the gang.

I entered our home and heard Dal yell from upstairs "If you're not McKenna,get the fuck out!"I could tell by the sound in his voice that he was crying.I ran upstairs and put Red down.I got to the doorway and said "Babe?Whats wrong?" and saw him laying face down on the bed,crying.He jumped up and pulled me in for a hug.He put his face in the crook of my neck still softly crying.He mumbled some words that I didn't understand.He looked up and kissed me hard.I held his face in my hands as he started to relax under my touch.

As I pulled away,he looked at me with an unbelieved look on his face.I asked him what was up and he told me a story I didn't know.

"Well,when you went to get snacks at the drive in,a soc came up and threatened to hurt you for hurting Cherry.I told him he wouldn't touch you and he reminded me that I didn't go to school with you and would get you there.It made me mad but I couldn't fight him there because you were coming back and I wanted to protect you.Thats why I wasn't talking to you when we were at dinner and I'm sorry baby,I just wanted to protect you.When I got home and you weren't home,I thought they got you and felt the urge to cry."

I felt bad for him and pulled him for another hug.I just kept telling him that everything was okay and I wasn't going anywhere.He started crying again and I just held him.I felt something jumping at my feet and looked down to see Red.

"What the hell is a dog doing here?"

I slightly giggled at him and responded to him "I may have found him on my walk.I wanna keep him as long as it's ok with you I mean I would feed him and pay for..."I didn't get to finish because Dally pecked my lips to shut me up.He said it was fine to keep him and I jumped into his arms and kissed all over his face saying thank you.Red started barking and we laughed.We went to bed with me in Dallas's arms and Red in my arms.

I was woken up by Dallas straddling my lap trying to wake me up.I rolled over on my back and told him because of all the rain that church was canceled and we could sleep.

"But babe,I have exciting news!"

"None of your shit news is worth my sleep."

"I guess I'll just have to pull you away from your sleep."

"How are you gonna do that smartass?"

He picked me up bridal style and carried me downstairs.I was yelling at him because it was cold but he put me on the kitchen counter and spun me around.He stood i between my legs and started speaking.

"Because I never finished senior year and I need to protect you,I'm going back to school with you!"

I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck.He picked me up and I told him how happy I was.He went to kiss me but I put my hand in front of his lips."No kisses with morning breath mister."He pouted then put one finger up and ran upstairs.I followed him because I wasn't kissing him with morning breath either.After we both brushed our teeth,I teased him a little and made him catch me for a kiss.

This ended with me tackled in the living room and forced to kiss him,not that I minded.We got ready to get breakfast at Bella's diner and get his school supplies.As we got up to leave,Cherry and Marsha walked in laughing.Dal grabbed my hand to hold me back but I was fine.She looked in our direction and looked away fast.From the look I got of her face,she had a black eye and a few cuts.I was happy she was finally leaving me alone.

The gang came over after we got his school supplies.We watched movies and played cards.They all left and it was 9:30.We had school tomorrow so I went to get ready for bed.While brushing my hair,I got a text from an unknown number.

"Watch yourself Garland.Your precious little boyfriend or whatever can't protect you forever 😈" and I instantly knew who it was.Only one person in my entire life has called me by my last name.I screamed at the thought of it being him.It was the man who killed Logan and kidnapped me.
