The Next Day
Tray POV
I really didn't get any sleep the thought of our girls not being here with us and our moms is really blowing my mind right now. I can't believe who would do something like this and stoop so low without warning. Ugh I'm trying my hardest not to think the worst right now. I look at the clock on the nightstand and it read 6am. I got up and went to take a shower. Once done I got dressed and went to the girls room to see if anything seemed outta place. I scanned their room throughly and nothing had stood out. I went back to our room and saw Airi still sleeping but she had dried tears stains on her face as if she'd been crying in her sleep. I walked to my side of the bed and sat down. I started to think about a lot of things.
Mid-Day
It's now a little after 1pm and still no word from Officer Mike I'm growing impatient, as I'm pacing back in forth in our bedroom. Airi walks up to me and gives me a hug and kiss to try and calm me down. Then we sit on the bed to talk.
Airi: Babe
Tray: Yes Baby
Airi: You have to remain calm and strong for our family I know this is taking a toll on us not knowing what's going on but we have to stay and think positive about this right now
Tray: Yes Babe you are right but I can't sit still knowing our girls and moms are been held for ransom
Airi: Hopefully some one will call us
(Just then the house phone rings)
Tray: Who could that be no one has our number it our moms as I look at Airi
Airi: Right just answer it
Tray: Ok
(Tray picks up the phone)
Tray: Hello Who is this
Unknown: Don't worry about who is this, all you need to worry about is getting me my money or else they all will die I don't care
Tray: (in my head) This person sounds familiar and it's a guy
Tray: What you mean don't worry that's my family you took from me
Unknown: Like I said before I don't care and hung up
Airi: What did they say
Tray: Well it's a guy and he sounded familiar and he just wants the money and if he doesn't get it he will kill them
Airi: Oh no we have to find a way to get the money
Tray: Baby we will figure this out but call Officer Mike and tell him what just happened and do we still have caller ID on the phone
Airi: Ok and I'm on it and yes we do
(Calls Officer Mike directly)
Airi POV
I'm on the phone with Officer Mike and told him what just happened and he said he will be over in 10mins, just to stay by the phone in case there is another call. Since I was told to wait by the phone I called out for Tray but he didn't answer me, I wonder where he went to that fast. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, I walk to it and ask who is it and the person said it was Officer Mike, so I immediately opened the door to let him in. As he walks in Tray comes in behind him and I ask him where he was and he said he went to meet up with his coach real quick. I didn't think about that at the moment. So we replayed the phone call to Officer Mike he had a shocker look on his face and it was hard to tell what he was thinking. So I ask him a question .
Airi: What's Wrong
Officer Mike: I think I know who this person is because his voice definitely sounds familiar I cant pinpoint it right now
Airi: Are you serious right now
Officer Mike: Yes I am honestly on my life
Officer Mike: To make sure my hunch is right let me listen to it a few more times
Airi: Ok I told him
While Officer Mike was listening to the phone recording again I went to Tray to see if everything was ok with him.
Tray POV
I went in the kitchen to think all this is so stressful but at the same time it's sad because that's my family and I want them back safe and sound. Knocking me outta my thoughts I feel Airi's hands on my face and she asks me "WHATS WRONG" so I basically told how I felt and as I was about to tell her what happened with the coach and I Officer Mike walks in and says he has good and bad news for us.
Tray: Ok good news first we can't take anymore bad news right now
Officer Mike: Ok the good news is the voice behind the recording is no other than my partner Officer James
Tray:😳🤬 Wow now that explains the way he was acting towards us and showing no regard to the situation at hand
Airi: How could someone do such a thing but are you sure
Officer Mike: Yes I'm 100% sure it's him he has a distinctive voice that I remembered since we became partners 5 years ago
Tray: Now what's the bad news
Officer Mike: He's a hard guy to track down because he's so private
Tray: Well can't you go down to the station and get anymore information on him our family lives are at stake
Airi: Yes please anything would be so helpful
Officer Mike: Ok I hear you but we gotta do this smart and careful to not throw off I am suspecting him in any way but I know he's behind it just by his actions so far during this case
Tray:Thank you so much
Officer Mike: Don't thank me just yet we still have to bring y'all family home safely
Airi: You're right ok
Airi:Now what do we do now and what about the ransom money
Officer Mike: Right now just sit tight and don't worry about the money I have a plan I'm going to the station and I'll be back
Tray: Ok we will be waiting
Officer Mike POV
I just left The Billingsley residence and they seem so sweet and they genuinely miss and want their family back home. 15mins later I pulled into the stations parking lot and walk in to the where my superior is and let her know what's up and I also ask her if Officer James came in to work yet and she said no he's been missing in action since we was called a day ago. Ok so that definitely raises some suspicious questions in my mind. I was there longer than I expected and it was starting to get late so I just call Airi and let them know we are resuming early in the morning and we sent out plain clothes officers to their house for surveillance and to wire tap their phone just to be on the safe side. They was ok with that but was still worried about their family. Eventually we said our good nights and that was it
