Chapter 2

Cross-country

A few hours into the trip, a crew member came down to check on Erin. "Need anything? It'll be awhile before we get there." Erin then replied looking at her bag. "Water, lots of water, it doesn't matter if it's fresh or salt water." The crew man nodded and went back up the ship deck. Minutes later, he carried a big tub of water down to her and also a bottle of water for drinking. She thanked the man and she was left alone once more. She then grabbed out a hair coloring box she bought back at the store.

Couple of hours later, Erin's head was in the water and lifted it out of the water revealing her hair was now a different color. The dark brunette hair was changed to a very light blonde. She grabbed a towel nearby and wrapped her wet hair in it and went to sleep on the cold, hard floor.

Hours have passed and the ship was getting louder and louder waking Erin up. She wondered what was going on, but was instructed to stay put until she got the clear from the crew up on deck. The ship rocked hard and stopped assuming that the ship was at a complete stop.

Erin was hoping everything would be all good and they would proceed to their destination. An hour or so of waiting later and she heard the door open. She saw a familiar face and he gave the all clear. She gathered her stuff and made her way up on the deck.

As she came up, the sun was beaming hard against her face and hair. She looked around and saw the harbor shore of turquoise blue waters and busy streets of the city of Bilbao. She stood there gazing the view realizing she was no longer in Killarney anymore.

She got off the boat and start exploring around the deck. She placed her scarf around her face only showing her eyes and tied her hair into a braid. Taking in the scene, Erin walked around looking to find a way to get to Madrid without using any identification since she did not possess any such thing. Plus, it would give her away being a foreigner and causing her trip to be cut short.

She saw a bus and went on asking the bus driver. "Excuse me, does this bus go to Madrid?" The bus driver responded. "It goes that way, but you'll have to get off on Rivabellosa and take another bus that goes that direction as well. These buses go as far as an hour drive." "I see, one ticket to Rivabellosa, please." Erin requested. "Ten euros, please." Erin handed the ten-euro bill and took her seat on the bus. The bus took off as soon as the bus filled with other passengers. She started to lay back watching the view from her window.

An hour of stops and traveling passed by and Erin reached to Rivabellosa. She got off the bus and started her hunt for the next bus. She looked at the bus stops and saw the schedule and map. She waited for the next bus and ordered a ticket to go to Burgos. She paid the next ten euros to the bus driver and took her seat.

After she made it to Burgos, she went to the next bus stop. However, the next bus wasn't going to be until another two hours. She walked around the town to kill some time getting freshened up in a public bathroom and satisfy her curiosity around the town. While walking around, she saw a thug grabbing a woman's purse and making a run for it with her purse. The woman cried out. Erin decided to run after the thug following him in an alleyway.

The thug then looked at Erin and started to grab his knife out. He tried swinging at her with it, but Erin managed to dodge it. She clotheslined and body slammed on him. She then elbowed on the crease of his dominant hand where he had the knife in his hand. He let go of the purse and Erin grabbed it while making a run for it. She ran back to the woman shouting. "Ma'am! Ma'am!" The startled woman had her attention on her and was shocked that she actually got her purse back.
