I was awoken abruptly to my best friend jumping into the sea of blankets I had entangled myself beneath. Besides getting the breath knocked out of me and dying slightly, I felt really damn well-rested and content with being awake, unlike how I usually feel when she jumps on me.

"Wakey, wakey!" She drawled out, poking at my face until I showed some sign of life. "Good morning, sunshine!"

"I mean, it was... until my lungs were crushed." I mumbled sleepily.

"Pfft." She waved her hand dismissively while rolling her eyes at me, as if saying 'you should be used to it by now'. "We gotta go shopping today, the cupboards are empty and the fridge is crying. And by 'we', I mean you. Also, did you know that there's a man sleeping on the couch at the moment? I was about to jump on him before I realized it was definitely not you... and that it would definitely be awkward if I did."

My thoughts flashed back to last night, and the corners of my mouth turned up slightly upon remembering what took place. It was probably one of the best nights I've had in forever, but I couldn't give anything away to Ashley, she'd pester me to no end. Besides, it didn't really mean much. To me, anyways. "Yeah, Brendon. He's just a guy I met last night at the party after you ditched me." I glared pointedly at her, to which she only raised her hands in surrender, shrugging. "He lives on the other side of town, so I just let him crash here for the night."

"I see, well, I'd kinda like to have my couch back to watch TV on and be lazy in peace. So please, Ryan, buddy, pal, kick him out and bring me sustenance, thanks." She got up, nodding with a bright smile and walking off to the bathroom, probably to shower.

I groaned at the thought of having to wake him up and everything. Waking people up was so awkward. I really didn't think this through last night, I completely forgot about Ashley. I should've maybe, possibly, definitely let her know beforehand, but it was such a last minute decision... and I was a little baked at the time.

Getting out of bed and slipping on the nearest hoodie I located on my bedroom floor, I trudged out to the living room. There I saw Brendon sprawled out across the couch. It was quite the scene: pillows pushed off onto the floor, his hair sticking up every which way, face squished against the armrest, sleeping harder than I've ever seen anyone sleep. I see why some people smoke now, definitely worth a good night's rest.

I awkwardly stood over him, just contemplating how I should wake him up. Ultimately I grabbed the remote and started nudging his face with it, hoping it would rouse him from his pot-fueled slumber. Eventually, it did just that. His brows furrowed, but then relaxed as he opened his eyes and blinked up at me, clearly not happy to be awake, but who could blame him? "Good morning." I said, with notably less enthusiasm and energy than Ashley had.

Brendon pushes his sleep-tangled hair out of his face before shyly mumbling "Hi,"  in a hoarse whisper; whether from sleep or excessive smoking, I couldn't really tell. We both fell silent once he sat up, him taking a sudden interest in the carpet while I occupied myself with wondering what could have caused that stain on the fucking ceiling.

"Sooo..." I drawled out, desperate to diffuse the awkwardness that loomed over us. "Do you need a ride home or anything?" I asked, remembering that I was supposed to be getting the guy out of here.

"Uhm, maybe? Thing is..." his brown eyes flickered around the small space, then back up to me. "I'm not exactly sure where I am." He laughed nervously, stretching his arms out in front of him.

I nodded and motioned for him to get up. He complied, standing and stretching his arms upwards thoroughly, so that he was stood on the tips of his toes. "We're leaving now, Ash!" I yelled down the hall, receiving a muffled 'okay' in response.
