At lunch I went to my locker and Leo came up to me. He looked somewhat confused and somewhat disappointed.
"You kissed Chase, you know Emily is going to kill you."
"He kissed me, and it's not a big deal, it was to prove a point." I put my books away while we talked.
"Hey, I know that was your first kiss, and it wasn't very special-"
"Just because yours wasn't doesn't mean mine was." I said. Leo looked like he was just hit by a truck. "Oh my god, Leo, no, no that's not what I meant I-"
"Have fun eating alone today." he said and walked away. I huffed and grabbed my lunch.
"He just needs space," I told myself, "I'll talk to him tomorrow." And I just want to explain that I didn't mean his cousin, I meant Emily, she kissed him in grade seven for a dare, which was technically his first kiss. That's why I always tease him about it. That's just not what he thought I was talking about.
I walked to the cafeteria and sat at a table alone. I watched as the popular people walked in. They all looked so perfect, Janice looked at me, but didn't smile. They know. I'm screwed. Surprisingly, Emily came in last holding hands with Chase. Everyone sat at their regular table, except for Emily. Who sat directly in front of me.
"Hi." I say.
"Cut the bullcrap" she says, I look down. "I know about your little mishap in drama," Chase went to the other table. "It's not going to happen again. For two reasons, one Chase likes me and not you, and two," she gave me a weird look then jumped back. "Ew, Rhino! Did you seriously just hit on me? Wtf, this is gross! Footsies is not a game for girls to play! Unless they are lesbian! Omg! You're a lesbian!" she yelled so loud I'm surprised China didn't hear her. "No way Rhino! I guess it makes sense, you've always looked like a man, now we know why." Then she whispered so only I could hear. "I can ruin you Rhino, it's as easy as snapping my fingers. Don't cross me or any of my friends again." then she slapped me, "Ew gross no I won't kiss you! Thats disgusting! It would be like kissing a Big Mac." Then she walked back to her table.
Everyone just stared at me for a second, then laughed. I got up, and walked away. Fingers pointed, mouths open, eyes staring, all at me. I looked back, right at Chase, he looked at me, then looked back at his food. When I turned around Leo was right in my way. He looked at me with his forehead creased, I just ran. He's mad, and the entire student body now think I'm a Lesbian Rhino. I ran outside of to the front of the school, and went underneath a tree. The tree I always went to, its big enough to hide me from the rest of the world. Then, I cried, and cried, and cried.
When I got a tap on the shoulder I had no clue who it was. I looked up to see square glasses and blond spiky hair.
"What was that?" Leo asked.
"Did you not hear?" I sobbed. "I'm a lesbian now, who has a crush on Emily." Leo just sat next to me. "And Leo I know you thought I meant-"
"Yeah, yeah, you were talking about Emily. That's why I was going to the cafeteria, to tell you that's what I realized. I'm sorry."
"How did you know I was here?"
"I know you Flower. I see you."
