Something felt off that Saturday morning. It was something that usually doesn't happen at all. Paintbrush woke up with the most infuriating headache, along with feeling like they woke up in an oven. Just the other day they were feeling perfectly fine, now they feel like a sick MePhone from years ago sneezed on them and spread his cold.
Paintbrush groaned as they laid face planted on their pillow. The headache only worsened from there. It felt as if a huge anvil was dropped on their head. Their throat felt hoarse and just as painful. Paintbrush sat up and looked at the mirror across their bed, noticing their eyes were bloodshot red and their face was a light shade of pink.
The door swung open to Fan with a huge grin on his face and typing away on his phone, as usual.
"Paintbrush, you'll never believe what I just-", Fan cut off his sentence when he saw his short tempered roommate looking under the weather. This surprised him, because usually they were yelling at him to keep it down or that they don't care about his dumb blog stories.
"You don't... look too good..." Fan murmured as he stared at the ill Paintbrush. Paintbrush looked back at him with an annoyed face.
"No kidding."
Fan sat on his bed and continued to type on his phone.
"Now that's really strange." He wondered.
"Oh what? Are you gonna write this on your stupid blog?" Paintbrush rebuked.
"Well, sort of. But the thing is, you're the not the first one to get sick." Fan calmly replied. Paintbrush widened their eyes as they hesitantly scooted forward to the edge of their bed facing Fan.
"What? So, others are too?" Paintbrush asked in a mildly concerned tone.
"Yup. Nickel got sick just yesterday, while Paper and Salt the day before, and Baseball last Sunday." Fan replied, not taking his eyes off his phone. "I think it's weird because they acted just like you the morning they woke up sick, except less aggravated."
Paintbrush rolled their eyes on the comment, but that explained why they weren't able to see them for the past days. "So, are you saying they have the same illness as me??"
"Well, that's what Test Tube told me, but she hasn't really found a diagnosis yet, because she says what you have is way more series than just your average fever." Fan stood up and put his phone away. "Anyways, Testy told me to go get soup for you in the supermarket, so uh, see you around Painty!"
"Don't call me that." Paintbrush said resentfully, knowing that nickname was reserved for someone special to them.
"Uh, yeah... sure..." Fan headed out the door while finger gunning. Paintbrush sighed as they stood up and started heading to the bathroom. They splashed some water on their face and brushed their teeth, but that's when they noticed something very off. Paintbrush's nails looked unusually long, as if they haven't cut their nails in a month or two. The tips looked pointy, as if it was some sort of wolf claw. However, things started to get more off when they looked in the mirror and noticed their some of their front teeth looked pointy, like a pair of fangs growing out.
This can't be right. No. Is this what I think is happening? Ugh, keep it together, Paintbrush. Maybe Test Tube was just overlooking everything and it's just a fever. I'm sure it's nothing THAT serious. Right?

Fan walked out of the supermarket with loads of tomato soup cans in his grocery bag. As soon as he walked back to the hotel to his and Paintbrush's room, he noticed that Paintbrush was asleep, so he just left the soup cans near their bed and headed outside. He approached the vending machine and started typing the code to Test Tube's lab.
As soon as he got sucked in and entered, he noticed the lab looked quite messy than usual. With papers and science equipment scattered all over the floor and desks. He found Test Tube on looking under a microscope and taking notes, while Lightbulb was nearby reading a textbook with a bored look on her face.
"Hey! So I got Paintbrush the soup you asked for!" He exclaimed.
Test Tube looked up from her microscope and shushed her red friend. "Don't you see I'm trying to concentrate here?" She warned. "But thank you, hopefully they'll get better along with the others."
"Heh, no problem." Fan sat on a stool near him, took out his phone and started typing. Suddenly, he reminded himself he really needed to tell her something. Something he noticed with Paintbrush along with the other Hotel OJ residents. "Um, Test Tube, I forgot to tell you something really important. It's about what I've noticed about the sick residents."
"What? Is it the fact that they always have that weird blush on their face as if they-" Lightbulb said but got cut off by Fan.
"-no, actually. It's that their hands and feet have have weird, pointy nails. Kind of like claws. And some of their teeth look like fangs."
Upon hearing this, Test Tube's jaws drops and eyes widened in horror. "OH MY GOODNESS!! GOLLY GEE! FAN, WHY HAVEN'T YOU TOLD ME THIS BEFORE?!" Test Tube rushed to the next room and closed its door shut. Fan and Lightbulb had looked at each other confused and shrugged. Meanwhile, Test Tube was in the other room scanning through her books and typing away on her computer.
I hope this isn't what I think it is.
Phew! First chapter done! Sorry if it's really short. And also sorry for my bad writing TwT
