There is nothing quite like the shock you get when finding finding out that earth is not the only place where inteligent life is found. And no, I dont mean aliens, that would be much to predictable. What I'm talking about is a place that is the origin of all the so called myths and fairytales of our little word. I mean,if you think about it, someone got the ideas from somewhere, right?

But I'm getting ahead of myself. So let's just rewind before your blissfully ignorant mind is invaded by what will sound like an insane person's lecture on orange peels and their molecular stucture in space. I hope a fraction of it makes sense.

.............................

Patricia Roberts was at it again. For some reason the crazy girl thought it would be a good idea to institute a school dress code. She had just stood up in front of the entire 12th grade class, at lunch, and gave an elegant speech about uniformity and professonalism. When asked by the loud-mouth in class, also known as Brandon, why this was important she replied with, "We are soon to be the graduating class of Norton High and it is necesary to establish a standard, to show maturity, to be propper role models to the students and furthermore..." I stopped listening after that.

I rolled my eyes, "Why does she bother? Her little speeches are only gonna make this place more misrable."

Obviouly waiting for me to say something positive after my complaint, but exepting the fact that one wasnt coming my friend julia replied,  "School isn't that miserable. I mean, the people are fun and..."

"I'm gonna stop you there, Jules," I interjected, "and remind you that it's school. Do I need to say more?"

She sighed, "Well who knows, maybe you'd enjoy it if you actually completed your assignments on time."

"Hey! I get my assignments done on time."

"Barely." She said with a snort.

I smirked. Julia and I had become friends at the begining of this school year, when she cheerfully skipped up to me, thrust out her hand and said, "Hi, I'm Julia." She had short ash-brown hair that did not at all match the personality and an air of originality floating around her. It was so pungent I could have choked, but ive gotten used to it now. We became pretty close friends after that. Im not exactly sure why, but I think it might have had to do with the fact that I would tell her if and when her creative outfit of the day could no longer be classified as unique style choice, but was just ugly. I think she appreciated the fact that I was willing to be that honest, a trait that most people here find repulsive in a 17 year old teenage girl. But I digress. I'm just really glad that we're friends. Without her hanging around, I doubt that I would have any.

Lunch was almost over and I had classes to sleep through, so we got up and headed out to class.

"Hey, don't forget, finals are tomorrow, so make sure to pay attention to any reviews." Jules gave me a very poined look, probably for good reason. She and I didn't share any classes after lunch, so these type of statement were a very common occurance.

"I know, I know." I said dismissively. "I'll do my best to not fall asleep again." I gave her another smirk, and with that we turned around and headed off to our classes.
