"hey, are you thirsty, baby?"Emma asked in the direction of the ball of hair spread out in the middle of her bed. Napa had been at her house for a few hours while Amanda and Olivia were doing theater classes. She smiled when she realized the dog went back to sleep. "I think this is a no" completed, turning your attention to the video she were editing.
After hours editing she decided it was time to stop. She got out of bed and stretched, trying unsuccessfully to wake the body. Every night she spent awake they were beginning to consume in the form of fatigue. She went downstairs and started making coffee.
She looked around the apartment while waited for the machine to do the work. The place was so dark it barely made any difference to the day. She breathed a sigh of relief when she remembered that in a few days would move to a new, better, and much lighter apartment.
"TOC TOC TOC"
Emma woke up from her thoughts when she heard someone knock on her door. At the same time Napa went down the stairs and stood in front of her.
"I think it's Mom, Napa!" she said and headed toward the door.
She turned the knob and pulled her to reveal someone she didn't expect to see so soon. Instantly her eyes caught his green eyes.
"Ethan?" She said bewildered. He was leaning against the wall beside the door. His hands moved through his black hair in a gesture of nervousness. His upper lip crushed between his teeth. Emma took a deep breath trying to calm the frantic beating of her heart. "Is everything okay?" He lowered his head.
"I need to talk to you" Ethan finally said and she felt a shiver run down her spine. Yes, every effect he had on her was still there.
"Okay" was all she could manage to say and walked away giving him room to enter the apartment. She closed the door and sat on the couch being escorted by him.
Ethan took a deep breath and leaned his back against the back of the sofa. Her straight leg danced compulsively and Emma felt her anxiety grow.
"E, what's happening"she whispered, putting her hand on his leg. In less than seconds he hugged her and she returned the hug by laying her head on his shoulder.
Missing. This was the word that described the moment. His scent, hers, arms interlaced, breaths paced. Everything contributed to the perfection of the moment. Emma felt his lips on her neck and instinctively closed her eyes.
"I miss you"Ethan whispered. She felt her heart stop. He also missed her as much as she felt about him."I know I asked for time, but I need you. I thought taking you away from me would be easier, but I was so wrong" he finished, and he felt her small hands fit the sides of his face. "I need you with me, I need your laugh, your eyes, our early morning conversations, I need your hands touching my hair while I sleep, I need your kiss, your unexpected connections, your love. I just need you"She felt her eyes fill with tears.
Emma felt the same way. Every thirty days, nineteen hours and twenty minutes she thought of him. The pain of missing hurt her, but she did everything to respect his request.
She leaned her nose on his, and she leaned forward a little more and gave him a little kiss. Ethan quickly put a hand on her neck desperately trying to deepen the kiss. lips were tightening, tongues explored the taste of longing, hands clutched wildly. When the air was gone they parted.
"Fuck, I love you so much"he whispered in her ear. Emma laughed and climbed onto his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and brought her mouth to it.
"Dude, me too" she said and he smiled against her shoulder. Ethan breathed a sigh of relief. They were together again. He had her again. And right there in her arms he felt alive again.
