If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.

Whatever it is that got into Amna, she wasn't complaining. She just went with it. She has been doing a lot more around the house. Mostly cooking. Maman Rahma has been feeling a lot better recently but Amna didn't mind cooking and Maman Rahma assisting. It has become a routine.
"Do you want me to get started on the dishes?" Maman Rahma asks and Amna nods politely.
"I'm going to go upstairs, you can finish the rest right?"
"Yes, you've done the hard part." Maman Rahma laughs and Amna smiles leaving for her room.
She makes it upstairs and goes into the bathroom to freshen up. She had just come out to find her phone ringing.
She quickly runs to it and picks up. "Hi sweet." Abbas calls.
"Hi bubby." She calls back with the same enthusiasm.
"I'm coming to pick you up so we can go to my moms house for the Twins' birthday."
"Oh, okay. How far away are you?"
"I'm already home." He laughs.
"I have to get ready." She argues, looking down at the abaya she was wearing. She could've gone out in it but it looked dirty and smelled like kitchen, as Abbas would say.
"I'm sure you look fine just come down."
"Bubba, I just got out of the kitchen. I have to change." She states and he sighs.
"I'll be in the kitchen."
"Meet you downstairs." She quickly hangs up and runs downstairs. She was halfway there when she heard Abbas greeting Maman Rahma. She goes in and says her Salaam, they both answer.
"Sannu da zuwa." She smiles at Abbas and he smiles back.
"You seem happy." He nods.
"I'm always happy." She insists.
"No, this is different." He furrows his eyebrows and she shrugs, smirking at him.
"I'll go change." She states giving him a sly smile.
She walks out and Abbas follows suite. They reach her room and he quickly closes the door and hugs her from behind. "Somethings up." He whispers into her ear sending shivers down her spine.
"I promise nothing's up." She starts, turning to look at him. "It's just been a good few months."
"Yes it has." He smiles then leans down to kiss the side of her mouth. "You should go get ready."
She quickly changes into a Bubu and wraps a veil around her head then sprays herself with perfume.
"Oh I love that." Abbas exaggerates, taking in the smell of the perfume.
