I honestly don't even know why I brought my ass to school today. I should've slept in, but the sound of the front door slamming after my mom's newest fuck left prevented me from going back to sleep. My name is Ava. I just turned 18 years old and I graduate high school this coming fall. Im originally from Portland, but my mom and I moved to Chino Hills 2 years ago after my parents divorced. I love my mom and all, but sis has got some serious fucking problems. We live in a multi-million dollar home, yet she still acts like she's on the streets of Compton. I try my best not to judge her though, because I could only imagine what the hell shes been through. Much like my family, everyone in Chino Hills had money. We went to a very prestigious high school and everyone around drove Range Rovers and Mercedes. Don't be fooled though, Chino Hills has more problems than what the naked eye could see. That brings us to today. Up until last week, my life was great. Even though my mom was still drinking, Brandon and I were good, I had just been accepted into UC Berkeley, and we had just celebrated my bestie Sienna's birthday. Fast forward to today, and i've never been more heartbroken. Brandon broke up with me for some odd reason, and now every time i see him he just looks away. Even though I wanted to dress in sweats and not put on makeup, this wasn't that type of school. You always had to look your best regardless of what you were going through, and I did just that. Just as I'm leaving U.S Gov, I make eye contact with Brandon. He immediately turns his head like he never saw me. Instead of showing weakness, I decided to suck it up and keep it moving, even though I felt like balling.
When I get to lunch, I'm greeted by my two best friends. Landon, who was completely fabulous and constantly did three much. Now Sienna, that was my bitch. I met her two years ago when I first moved here. We both were light skin with curly hair so people always said we looked alike, even though we didn't see it. I got my food and sat down. "Who took a shit in your cheerios poo?" Landon yells taking me away from my thoughts. "Nobody, i'm good" I tell him and Sienna. "You saw him didn't you? Girl I told you the best way to get over old dick was to go jump on a new one" Landon says. "Girl fuck him, you're the best thing that ever happened to him anyway" Sienna adds. I just nod my head in agreeance. I couldn't wait for this day to be over.
