I woke up late. My alarm didn't go off. I got ready for the day in a half an hour. I ate some breakfast and jumped in my car. I had just started my car when the phone rang.
"Hello," I said.
"Hey Scar where are you? It's eleven and I've got to show you something. Hurry down here. Bye," Jack said as he hung up.
"What does he want now?" I said to myself driving out of my driveway. When I got to the station Jack was standing outside waiting on me. He was motioning for me to come here. I got out of my car and walked to Jack.
"Scar you'll never believe this Ken escaped," Jack said."He's back out there."
"How?" I asked in shock.
"I don't know. He was there now he's gone. I just don't know how but he's gone," Jack said.
"Me and a team will go search for him. You stay here and check the footage. Make sure Jamison is still there," I told Jack.
"Got it," he said.
We walked inside and I got a team together. Jack went and started logging on his computer.
"Come on! We got to find Ken Granger!" I told the team. We got into the police cars and drove out. We had guys in a ten mile radius on the jail. I sent half the team to block ever road leading out of town. The other half I sent to check the rest of the area. Then the station called.
"Hello is this Scarlet Rose," a strange voice said.
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"Your partner has been shot. He is alright and is being sent to the hospital closest to the station," the voice said as it hung up.
"Dan you take over. Jack's been shot. I'm heading over to make sure he's alright," I told another officer."Also send some people back to the station to see if the shooter is still there." I got in the car and started it. I dialed Lana's number. She been my best friend every since I started working at the station.
"Hey Scarlet what's up?" Lana asked.
"Jack has been shot," I told her.
"What, is he alright?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm heading to the hospital now. Meet me there," I said as I hung up. I was almost there. I saw the hospital sign and pulled into the parking lot. I parked the car and ran to the door.
"Who are you here to see?" a woman at a desk asked.
"Jack Daring," I said.
"Room two hundred four, floor three," she said.
"Thanks," I said walking towards the elevator. The elevator stopped and I walked out and towards the room.I opened the door and saw Jack laying on a hospital bed.
"Oh my gosh Jack. Are you okay?" I asked Jack as I sit down in a chair.
"I'm fine," Jack said.
"I'm sorry Jack it's all my fault. I shouldn't have left you alone. I should have brought you with me. I'm so so sorry Jack," I said.
"No it's not your fault it's whoever shot me's fault," he said.
"No, I'm sorry Jack," I said as I grabbed Jack's hand. Jack's heart monitor started to slow and it went flat. "Jack! Jack answer me! Jack!" I yelled as doctors rushed into the room. Two of picked me up by my arms. "No! Put me down! Jack!" I yelled as they drug me out of the room. Tears were already flowing from my face. Lana was outside the door waiting on me.
"It's alright. He'll be alright," Lana said as she wrapped her arms around me and led me to a chair.
