No Charge

Chapter 2:

"next time you see him, ask for his ID so you can get his name." Christina rambles. After I told her about that guy I saw yesterday, she has been obsessed. She always gets like that even if I catch a 'slightly' attractive guy's eye. Sometimes it gets annoying, but thats how I know she cares and she's my best friend.

"okay, maybe. I may not even see him again for the rest of my friggin life!" I say. The statement dawns in me as I think about what I just said.

"Hey baby cakes, you never know what could happen. Keep an open mind just in case it's your lucky day." she says with a smile as someone slams her locker door closed.

"Hey beautiful." says her boyfriend, Matthew. They've been going out for 3 weeks and have already admitted they 'love' each other.I think it's sweet, but love can't move too fast. It has to take time, that's why I doubt their relationship will last. I act like a good friend and motivate her and all that shit, but I have a hard time not groaning when she starts talking about Matt. I mean what kind of friend would just dump boatloads of Bullshit on your best friends bf?! I could never do that to Christina, she's too sweet and innocent (when she's not cursing like a pirate). And I know she would never do that to me, so I keep my negative comments to myself.

I watch envious as Matt pecks Christie's cheek and wraps his arm around her waist.

"Well, we're off to lunch. You comin' Mags?" Christie asks me.

"Nah, I think I'll just go to the library this period." I tell her. If I have to watch them make kissy faces at each other I think i'll be sick.

"you sure?" She walks closer to me with a concerned expression on her face. "if you want It can be just us." she whispers so Matt won't hear.

"No, it's fine. You two have fun. K?" I answer expressionless.

"Alright, but I'm coming over later." she says as they turn to walk towards the caf. Just as she's turning i catch her wink at me. This puts a smile on my face.
