Branded for Duty

Chapter 1

Patrick McEvoy had been working for the Gardaí for over 35 years. He was scheduled to retire from his post the september of 2019. Little did he know that his life was about to change completely.
  
It was a cold January morning in Dublin City Centre. Patrick McEvoy,A 56 Year old Detective Inspector originally from Cabra,North County Dublin,was finishing his cigarette outside Pearse street Garda Station,the station he had worked in for the past 20 years. He was a fully qualified Armed Detective,Working for the Gardaí's Special Detective unit. As he finished his last drag of his Cigarette,He threw it to the ground with a swift flick of his hand,crushing it under the heel of his black leather shoe. He ran his hand through his receding greyed hair,thinking of all the time he would have to spend with his children,his grandchildren,and his wife. Maybe he'd finally sell his old house and move down the countryside. He had always loved the smell of the country air.

As he was reminiscing about his time travelling the Irish countryside,his phone rang. It was his superior Detective Superintendent Martin McGinley. "Paddy,You're wanted at the front desk. Some woman here about her missing son. I would have just given it to one of the younger guards,but she asked for you by name." He said,the tone of his voice obviously quite serious.

As Patrick entered the station,a young woman came up to him. "Detective Inspector McEvoy? My dad told me to ask for you by name...My name is Saoirse McDowell. My dad is Detective Sergeant Peter McDowell. It's my son... We think he was abducted. We last saw him when he was out playing in the garden with our dog... please.. you're our last hope.." she said,as tears formed in her eyes.
