Disclaimer : Its a slightly short chapter, Im in a car lol
That night, the wind blew against the curtains, as 13 year old--- turning 14 the next day, Samatha was at her desk, writing in her diary. A strike of lightning made a loud noise, followed by hard rain.

Samatha jumped up, and rushed off her chair, as it fell and closed the window. She lit a candle,

"just if the power goes out.." Samatha thought.

She closed the curtains and looked back to her chair, that fell backwards. She picked it up and sat down and typed and typed. Soon, she finished and saved. But just daydreamed ahout her mother..

"When will she get home?
Why isn't she home?
Doesn't her job end at 9pm, or am I not focused daughter?
Did she get striked by lightning
Should I call 911?" She thought.

Samatha was not focused in much things, and had severe anxiety, especially about her parents. She knew that dad was downstairs, making dinner.. But, why wasn't he worrying?

Samatha's father 'was' very depressed, but about a month later, he assured us, he was okay. But Samatha always hinted something was wrong. Once, when she finished homework, she googled systems of depression, and her father fit ALL of them, didn't miss one. That made her a little suspicious of him, but what made her BELIEVE he was depressed.. The very next day, after she googled it, she checked his room, and found a paper, a diagnosis paper for depression! And, A business card, AND a phone number from a therapist!

She Ran out with tears in her eyes, when her mother (she was home that day) asked her where she was, she answered, hiding her face, "Ba-Bathroom" Stuttering as she hid her face full of tears. Swiftly, hiding her face, went upstairs.

Samatha got out of her daydream, she heard a bell ring. "Mom is finally home! I knew it wasn't my fault.." Samatha thought after a sigh of relief. She got up and skipped downstairs with a big smile. She opened the door with joy and saw her mother.

"U-Uhm..Hi! Uh, where is you're father? I-I..Umm.." The mother was trying to hide her bag. "Umm..Are you ok? What's wrong? You're stuttering and something is up." Samatha suspected.
"Nothing..It was c-cold outside, I just have the flu! Yeah..I am gonna go to my room!" The mother began to walk away. "Ok..? Don't you want-" Samatha was alone In the living room with the open door.
She shut it closed and went upstairs in frustration. "What was up with her?" She thought. She shut her door closed and jumped on her bed.

"Maybe she'll more open in the morning? Yeah! I'm right. Anyway, I'll just go to sleep." Samatha thought to herself. She shut her eyes and fell asleep not too long after.

"Good morning, Birthday Girl!" Samatha heard a voice next to her bed. "Mom?" Samatha called her name as she closed her eyes again. "Yes?" Her mother responded.

"Oh, It's you." Samatha opened her eyes. "You were expecting someone else?" her mother questioned with a smile. " No, I just didn't see you, that's all." Samatha secretly rolled her eyes.
"Ok, anyway..I got a gift for you, but before I give you it, get dressed!" Her mother grinned.
"Ok!" Samatha got up and rushed to the bathroom with a hair brush. She brushed her teeth and straightened her wavy dark brown hair and put it into a low ponytail. She dressed into a yellow shirt, blue mom jeans, and white shoes.

She hurried out and skipped to the living room. "Can I see the present?" Samatha asked excitedly. "Why not?" Her mother smiled. "Of course.." Her father looked away. Samatha opened the box and saw a expensive, REALLY expensive looking necklace.

"Wow...I love it! Thank you mom and dad!" Samatha put it on. " But.." Samatha looked at her mother. "How did you get this..? We're in dept, and this looks expensive.." Samatha looked at the beautiful necklace. "Oh, um..Yeah! We're out of dept..Heh..I gotta go.." The mother looked down. "What?" Samatha looked at her. "Why?" She asked.

"..I-I....Look at the news.." The mother kept her head down. She got the remote and turned on the news. Her face was on it and the man was announcing that she was going to jail for 40 years because she was caught robbing. "Isabella Enals is going to jail in 30 minutes. The recording of the court will begin at 8pm.." The man rambled rolling his eyes like it wasn't important.

Samatha was frozen. She wasn't crying,or asking what happened. She was just like a statue. She watched her dad walk away to the bathroom to cry. She watched her mother opening the door to 10 police men. She watched it all and broke her heart. She didn't say a word. Not a "I'll miss you." Or a "Why?!" She was shaking, blinking like she thought it was an illusion. Trying to figure out what to say. Trying to figure out maybe the last words she'll say to her mother before she's behind bars.
