Scythe

Chapter I

The sky was dark and clouded and rain was falling so heavily it seemed as though the sky was falling apart to pieces of silver shattering as they hit the cold hard ground. The ground in the garden of a warm-looking cobbled house was very muddy from the rain, and it was easy to see a path of footprints leading towards a pattio of stone. Next to the pattio was a small pond with reeds, lily pads, frogs, and coy fish. There was a viewing bench next to the pond on the pattio, and it was covered by a mossy wood roof. But on the bench was a young boy of about 15 years old and he was looking down into the pool. His ginger-brown hair was dangling in front of his face so it covered his face, but the reflection in the pool one could see a thoughtful look in his deep red-orange eyes.

"Hey hey? Rei what are you doing out here its all wet!" said and approching voice. "huh?" the boy looked up to see who it was. "Oh its you Tsuna" said the boy called Rei. "'Oh its you'? is that what you say to your best cousin?" Said the one called Tsuna as he sat down on the bench next to Rei. After Tsuna had sat down Rei returned his gaze to the water, " I like this kind of weather" said Rei replying to Tsuna's original question. "Well I dont" pointed out Tsuna. Rei didnt say anything, he just kept looking into the pool. Tsuna turned his emerald eyes to the water, he noticed that the reflection of the moon in the water made his jet-black hair look glossy. As he kept looking into the pool he notice how clear the reflection of the rising full moon was. "Nice once you get used to it, right?" Ask Rei out of the blue, Tsuna had completely forgotten about the rain and the fact he was soaking wet, he had even forgotten why he was there. "Y-Yeah" said Tsuna looking up from the pool, "Its mezmerizing... So you came here to tell me something right?" asked Rei standing up. " Yeah I did, we're eating dinner now so we'd better hurry." said Tsuna as he began to walk away from the pool and back towards the warm cobbled house.

The inside of the house was very standard there was a main room for the first floor with a bathroom to the left. There was a half-wall that separated the kitchen of from the main room, this was at the back of the main room. In the middle of the main room was a large table it seemed to fit 8 people. At that table sat a woman a man and 2 boys, the woman was around 30 or so and so was the man (or so he seemed), the 2 boys were the same age as Rei (Tsuna is 4 years older or so).

"Took you long enough" said the man sat at the table. As Tsuna and Rei sat down Tsuna said "we were enjoying ourselves Dad" he said. "Enjoying yourselves? In that rain?" Exclaimed Tsuna's Dad, "Yes." Replied Tsuna. "well you can head back out later" said an old female voice from the direction of the kitchen. Rei looked over and saw an old woman of a tall stature and yellowy eyes. "Oh Elise you've finished the food." Said Tsuna's Dad noticing the nice platter of meats and greens in her hands. She walked over and placed the platter on the table. Daemian reaced out with his knife and fork to take one of the steaks but Elise slapped his hand away, "Daemian you shall wait until you have been served" she said. "Yeah wait your turn" said Tsuna mockingly to Daemian his father, "and you Tsuna should show more respect" said the woman at the table. "Yes mother" said Tsuna obidiantly to the woman, she had pink-red hair and yellowy eyes just like Elise. "Mother would you like me to help you serve dinner?" asked Tsuna's mother. "No dear Im quite fine serving on my own thank you though" Said Elise in reply to her daughter's question, as she began to dish out food onto people's plates. After she placed food on her own plate Elise said "Now tuck in everyone" and everyone began to eat cutting at their steaks and muching on the various greens.

When Rei was done he let his eyes wander across the table until he lay eyes on the two boys sat at the end of the table, he focused on the black haired one, "so how was your food Kai?" he asked as the black haired boy finished his food. "huh?, oh it was nice" he said having not expected the question. "Sorry didnt hear you what did you say?" said Rei smiling, "I said it. was. nice. you need your ears checked" said Kai as a smile crept across his own face. "What that about MY ears? Its your voice that needs adjusting!" said Rei mockingly offended. "Girls girls please not at the table!" said the other boy, the one sat next to Kai, he had silvery hair and his grey eyes shone with laughter. "Hey I'm not a girl" complained Kai, "yeah neither am I, Zack you cant call me that" said Rei, also complaining. "Your acting like it though" replied Zack smugly, "yes well you can all argue later for right now the 4 of you are on clean-up duty" intervened Mercy , as everyone had by now finished their food. "Huh? aww me too?" said Tsuna looking at his 3 cousins. "Yes you too" Said Daemian, standing up, "How about first one done gets chocolate?" asked Elise, her voice craoked and she sounded tired. But with this the 4 boys looked at each other and dashed to pick up all the plates then run into the kitchen to begin washing them, "I guess thats a yes" said Daemian he began to head towards the stairs, "I'm gonna go to bed are you coming Mercy?" He said yawning, Mercy nodded as she helped her mother to her feet. "Good night dear, You head on up to bed while I check on the boys, I'll follow shortly." Said Elise as Mercy moved towards the stairs, "Good night Mother." she said when Elise walked into the kitchen.

"Boys have you finished?" Elise asked grabbing a chocolate bar from one of the kitchen shelves. "yeah just done now" replied Tsuna, as he placed the last dish in Rei's hands who passed it to Zack who passed it across the Kai who put it in the cubboard. The boys then turned to Tsuna's grandmother, "Is that chocolate?" asked Rei indicating the bar in Elise's hand. "Yes it is, and its for you and remember share it evenly" She replied handing the bar to Tsuna who was closest, he began to break it up into even peices as Elise turned away and said " Dont stay out to late, Good night". "Night" they replied in unison before digging into their chocolate pieces. Elise left the room and went upstairs to her bedroom, and the boys left the house and entered the garden.

"It's nice out, even though it is raining" Said Kai as the boys walked across the garden towards the gate. "I like the rain" Said Rei wistfully, "we can tell" scoffed Kai. Zack then pulled his arm up and patted Tsuna on the back saying, "were wasting time, C'mon lets run!" he then let out a burst of steam as he lept over the gate and across the road the others followed quickly, "Lets race and see who arrives at the clearing first!" Huffed Tsuna. " you'd be last " Said Rei, "why?" asked Tsuna, "'cause you'd want time with Lily wont you" smirked Kai and Zack laughed. Tsuna sniffed and and ran faster, and they hit a fork in the road they took different dirsctions.

They boys ran across the entire town running from house to house gathering other kids of about the same age. When Rei came to his last stop he knocked on the door of a cobbled house like all the others and out stepped a tall boy with poofy hair who looked the same age as Rei did. "Hey Rei Did you come here last?" Asked the boy as he looked across the group of teenagers. "Yeah" replied Rei as the boy steped out from his house, " Found two new kids" he said walking past Rei and through the crowed and Rei followed after him, "Really thats great Rieg who are they?" exclaimed Rei. "They live in the abandoned house at the end of Kelda Road" said Reig as he led the group in the direction of Kelda Road. After that everyone just started separate conversations between several 'groups' with in the group.

Once they arrived at the abandond house, Rei walked through the gate while everyone else hung back, they seemed scared, Only Rieg followed but he stopped and turned toward the group and said "Do you guys really believe those stories?" several of them nodded and this caused Reig to shake his head and turn back to follow Rei who was now at the door knocking. At first the door only opened to just a crack only big enough to peek through. "It's me, Rieg" Said Reig calmly, and the door opened wider to reveal two boys of about the age of 14, They looked identicle both with silver hair but one difference was that one of them had one blue eye and one green eye while the other's eyes were both blue. The one with two blue eye steped forward happily and said "Hi, I'm Disque but you can call me DJ and this is my twin Zae hedoesnt talk much though.". He had spoken so fast that it took Rei a moment to comprehend what he had said. "uhh. Hi. My name is Rei" said Rei holding out his hand DJ took it and shook hands with him. "Are there more people?" asked DJ, " Yeah we just split up to take less time" Replied Rieg as they began to walk away from the house, Zae followed behind slowly wisking his eyes from person to person as if awaiting an attack.

DJ continued to batter them with questions as the walked into the forest toward the afore-mentioned clearing, While Zae kept his distnce from the group. Once they reached the clearing DJ finally stoped talking, and Tsuna bounded up to them, "Hey looks like your last!" he said victoriously he then gave a confused look in the direction of both the twins, DJ and Zae. "New recurits" said Rei sighing. Tsuna nodded his head in understanding just as Zack walks up, " Now that we're all here Tsuna you should start the meeting, Aw this rain isn't helping" Said Zack, the rain was getting heavier.
