*Scarlett's POV*

I lay back down noticing for the first time there is a laptop sitting next to me. I glance around wondering if Hunty will make a random appearance and bust me for working on pack documents. I stand up quickly taking a step or two towards the night side just a tiny bit out if reach and I pick it up cheering happily to my self due to the discovery. I quickly sit back down before opening the laptop and I press down the power button praying that it will work. The screen slowly lights up and I jump happily in the bed before leaning back against the pillows determined to get some pack documents done knowing that I will soon be named Alpha of Crimson Night. I stare at the computer wondering what the password may be and I type in my mother's name, Nikki. A message appears on the screen saying 'incorrect 2 tries left' and I lean back sighing with frustration not remembering the password for the laptop. I close my eyes trying to think of the password before remembering that the third in command's son is a computer genius and should be able to easily get me in. I sit up happily quickly mind linking Brett, "will you come to my hospital room? I need to get onto the laptop but I can't remember the password again". I hear chuckling before a deep voice answers trying to mimic a high pitched voice of a girl, "of course dear alpha! I shall be there right away!". I shake my head chuckling as I stop mind linking him putting up a wall again keeping others from mind linking me or listening to my thoughts.

A few minutes later a tall tan broad 20 year old male with blue eyes and brown hair walks to the door entrance ignoring the broken down door. He walks over to me smiling happily before hugging me tightly happy to see me well and moving now. "I knew you would be fine! Plus I'm sure of the fire didn't hurt you as much as Hunty would have cause you know how Hunty is," he says chuckling before patting my back and he pulls a chair up to my bed before taking the laptop. I stick my tongue out at him childishly before shoving his shoulder knowing that what he said it very true. "Well that obvious! Everyone knows that and we all know she will be a handful to who ever gets her as a mate," I say joking around knowing that she will find her mate before I will due to her birthday coming very soon. "So can you get me onto the computer? Cause I'm hoping to finish all of the alpha work I need to do before planing a birthday.. Plus I need to find a replacement home for the pack until we can rebuild the pack house," I say sadly remembering the fire and smelling my skin burning off as I was being burnt alive. I shiver not wanting to remember that detail of what happened and I close my eyes breathing deeply trying to concentrate on getting the pack safe as well as finding out how the fire happened. He nods completely focused on the laptop slightly ignoring me as I talk and he puts his thick black glasses on while he types quickly. He grins happily after a few minutes before standing up and handing me the laptop. "Here you go dear alpha! I fixed it just like you requested and I made the password something you will remember easily. Plus if you forget I'll remember cause we both know you will ask me to reset the password again," he says teasing me before patting my back softly careful to not hit my burn marks that are slowly still healing. "The pack is ready in the cafeteria when ever you want to head down and tell us what we are going to do now that you are awake," he says in a serious tone knowing that what happened is a serious matter and that I will have to declare who will be my beta. Since the former beta's do not have a child who is old enough to take over the role leaving it to me to appoint someone to the role of beta. I close the laptop making a metal note to start and complete the pack documents after the meeting. "Very well, let's go get this pack meeting started and announce my Beta as well as my Third in command," I say smiling at him wishing that I could have taken over the pack differently then I am now. He nods to me understanding me and holds out his hand to me , "shall we go together and show them that no matter what we will stand strong". I nod giving him a small smile thinking about the song 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' by Kelly Clarkson and I take a deep breath closing my eyes. After a few seconds I open my eyes looking at him with determination, "let's show everyone no matter what happens to our pack we will stand strong as one". I pull him through the doorway walking over the broken door towards the cafeteria with newly found confidence knowing that Brett has my back no matter what may happen during this meeting.
