"Remember, even if it's a small job, your mission is your duty. A life is at stake, here, and you're responsible to protect it." Raphael reached behind me to tug my jacket's hood forwards, making the fake fur slap my forehead.
"Why are you telling me this, again?" I muttered, clearly not comfortable with his agent side. He smirked, his eyes glinting playfully as he poked my temple. "If you expect me to repeat it for the thousandth time, I'm not going to."
"Bummer. Take car of my car. I'm going to kill you if I see dents." He scoffed at my warning.
"Hey," he said after rolling his eyes. "even if she's undercover, some people have the capability of knowing who she is. So, be careful. Because whoever wants to reach for the body you're guarding, has to reach through you first."
"Tell me why you can't come along again?" I asked disappointedly. "Who says I'm not coming along? I will. After the whole week of keeping-every-agent-in-town-except-the-Indigos is done, I will break free from this.. some sort of.. dungeon full of spies." Raphael shook his head.
"That's a waste that you have to stay back. You already packed." I pointed at his lonely suitcase, leaning on the window. He gave me a sly smirk. "And it's a shame that you have to leave tonight." He glanced outside the window, the tug of his lips getting more evident.
"I'm not sure if the weather's suitable for your team's travel," He gestured at the condition outside the spotless window of the departure deck- Raining heavily with thunders as its company. Absolutely harmless for any sorts of traveling.
Note the sarcasm.
"Thanks for the tip." I spat, while he laughed soon after. It was a few seconds later that a completely ready-for-mission Indigo 001 approached us, dragging his suitcase behind him with his face masked with a stern, agent-y expression. Not that it lasted until he met eyes with Raphael, though.
"Well if it isn't Ethan Hunt," I muttered when he stopped in front of us.
"Don't call me that. Hi, Raphael," he gave a smile to my brother, but a less amused look to me. "Hello. Well, I think that's your cue, sis. Is the jet ready and set for flying?" Raphael grabbed my suitcases (Yes, I bring more than one.) and pushed the handles into my grip.
"Yeah. Everyone's in except for us."
"This is goodbye, then," Raphael turned to me, a sulky look on his face. "You're so dramatic." I pointed out, but gave him a tight hug soon after. "I'll see you in a week."
"Could you investigate on your own?" I looked up to him worriedly. A few hours back, I had told him about the threat message in my father's office. Without even waiting for me to ask him for help, he volunteered to find out more about it, and, hopefully, make sure that the message was nothing serious.
Raphael gave me a secret nod, an assuring smile lighting up his features.
I started to wave and turn around, but he stopped me.
"Wait," He grabbed my hand and slapped my iPhone onto my palm, along with a small scrap of paper underneath. "In case.. there are complications, I have someone you could turn to."
The scrap of paper had a name and an address, complete with a phone number. I gave my brother a thankful smile before joining Lance's side, heading for the jet that was probably howling in the wind.
The instance we stepped out from the closed building, we stumbled here and there as we headed for the jet's interior, thanks to the wild storm. Only grunts and groans of complaints escaped our lips until we finally managed to reach the door, that we had ventured to with difficulty.
