"Whoa- um, this is really high up." Zoe looked down, biting her lip nervously. She looked back that red and blue boy, then back down to the raging street below her. "So much traffic, I forgot what the city was like...""Just, jump and web to the other building." Peter stated bluntly, setting a gloved hand on her shoulder. Zoe and Peter shared matching costumes, a compression bra under hers to give the illusion of a flat chest. "It's not that hard one you get the hang of it."
"Yeah says you." She nervously snarked, and attempted to step down the the ledge. "Okay, actually, I'm really afraid of heights and I'd like to-"
"No can do, you already-"
Peter had grabbed her shoulders to keep her up, but triggered her clumsyness and sent her reeling backwards. Her arms windmilled as she tried to regain balance and Peter swiped at her hand, only to miss. She fell backwards off the skyscraper, twisting in the air and screaming as Peter leaned over the edge to watch.
"PEEEETTERRRR!" She screeched, coming dangerously close to the pavement. "I DONT WANT TO DIEEE-!"
A web shot from her wrist in a panic, and she swooped past traffic by no more than a foot. Knees to her chest and eyes scrunched shut, she finally cracked one open when the realization clicked in her brain.
"IM ALIVE!" She squeaked, using the opposite hand to shoot another web. Hoisting herself with a grunt, she laughed in disbelief, heart in her stomach with anxiety. She caught the glimpse of the target building, and attempted to make her way towards it. Her eyes widened.
"FUCK-"
Peter attached to the scraper beside her, the woman barely older than himself starfished on the tinted glass. He sighed.
"Well, you're getting better?"
Zoe groaned, pulling away to sit on her haunches and hold one hand to her nose. She pulled it away, blood soaked through the material and into her glove. She cursed and Peter visibly winced.
"I think my nose is broken..."
"Okay, maybe not that much better."
Previously, before the breaking of Zoe's nose:
"No, no there's no way Tony Stark is at my school." Zoe shook her head, ignoring the principals trying glare. She looked over the man in leather and aviators, not sparing the awkward boy next him a glance. "Why are you at my school- why are you in Tennessee?"
"Well, kid, your test scores were off the charts, literally." He explained placing his hands on his hips. She gave him a confused expression. "Your state scores were straight hundreds and you scored a hundred on the ASVAP which nobody even knew was possible until you did it."
"Wha-"
"Mr. Stark is here to offer you an enrollment as his prodigy." Zoe whipped around to face her balding principal and then back to Stark, and back again. She pointed to herself, gobsmacked, unable to form sentences.
"Wha- but- me?"
"Yes, you." Stark rolled his eyes. "Don't tell me the tests were as far as you intelligence goes-"
"No!" She shouted, earning looks. She quieted down, shrinking in the presence of the powerful man. "No- I mean- I can do other stuff, um, I'd show you but I'm not sure what you'd like to see and anyways I'm a quick learner so even if you didn't want me to do anything I'm capable of right now I'm sure with a bit of work I'd be able to-"
"Okay, okay, just... zip it." He sighed, and Zoe mock zipped her lips. "Are all teenagers like this?"
"In your presence, yes, most likely." The principal answered.
"Can I get a parents numb-"
"Mph-" Zoe moved her hand across her lips to unzip them. "No parents, died in a fire." She zipped them back up. Stark glared.
"-relative, something?" Stark questioned with a sigh of annoyance, but the principal only have a sad shake of his head.
"As far as I'm concerned, you can sign the adoption papers in the guidance office." He sat back, hands raised in defeat. Tony groaned.
"Alright, fine, show me where."
"Right this way," The principal stood and motioned to the door. Zoe moved to follow with the awkward boy she had just noticed, but a whirling Tony Stark froze both of them.
"No. You two, stay here." He pointed exclusively to the boy. "You, entertain her."
"Uh- yes sir mister Stark!" The boy called out after the quickly retreating billionaire. Zoe looked at him and he glanced her way, doing a double take when he realized she was staring at him. "Oh... u-um I'm Peter Parker, it's nice to m-meet you."
"Holy shit." Zoe stared at him with an awestruck face. "You're Spider-Man...."
"Yeah! Wait, no. Heh, why- why would you think that?" Peter quickly caught hold of his excitement, forcing his expression to become as even as possible.
"Bwhaa... w-well," Zoe was the one floundering this time, cautiously adverting her eyes. She twiddled her fingers behind her back. "I may have allegedly done a bit of hacking and watched the vlog you recorded and never uploaded-?"
"What?!" Peter whisper shouted, brows at his hairline. "How?! They were on a camera that can't even connect to the internet!"
"No!" Zoe squeaked, she scratched her cheek awkwardly. Her voice went high with a wince. "But you did edit them on YouTube's editor..."
"Aw what?" Peter deflated, face in his hands. "Mr. Stark is going to be so upset with me when he finds out."
"All I had to do was run my program and enter 'Spider-Man', b-but if I were to see the original computer..." Zoe trailed off, and Peter looked up with hope.
"Please tell me your saying what I think you're saying."
"I could, metaphorically, erase all traces left behind." Zoe finished, chewing the inside of her lip. Peter strode up to her, hands clasped at his chin. "Please, please, please work your hacker magic."
"As soon as whatever's happening is over, I'll do what I can." Zoe suddenly came to a realization, and her hand shot out. "I'm Zoe Bishop, by the way. I'm sure you already knew, but still."
"Oh! Yeah, yeah I did know." Peter smiled and took her hand. He stuttered to keep a conversation in the empty room. "Wow, your hands are soft- I- I mean, uh- crap, what grade are you in?"
"I'm ending out my junior year." Zoe laughed a bit at his cracking voice, but was really no better herself. She let go of his hand, clasping them behind her back once more. "You?"
"I'm uh, still a sophomore..."
"Oh..." Zoe blinked owlishly at the taller boy. She analyzed his features. "I never would have guessed. Fifteen? Or sixteen?"
"Fifteen."
"Sixteen, I'll be seventeen in two months."
"Oh, wow, you're way older than me."
"Oh, thanks."
"N-no! I didn't mean it like that."
