Lauren looked at her face in the mirror. "Hurry up, Lauren." said Irina impatiently.
"Urgh, my face look so ugly." Lauren complained.
"You have been looking in the mirror for ten minutes, already." said Ines. "Your face looks just fine."
Lauren sighed. "My nose is too big and it is so annoying." Lauren complained.
Lauren washed her hands. "Remember the story I told you five years ago? I wished I had the secret tip from the Queen so I can change my face."
Irina and Ines exchange a look. "The story is not real." Irina and Ines said at the same time.
Lauren looked at the reflection of Irina and Ines in the mirror. "Damn it, you twins."
"Why don't you just get plastic surgery? That is so much quicker." Irina asked.
Lauren dry her hands with paper towel. "You don't understand, plastic surgery can't get exactly what I want."
"It is just a legend, Lauren." Ines pointed out.
"Well," said Lauren awkwardly. "I still believe it."
Lauren, Irina and Ines walked out of the loo which is in a shopping centre. Three girls continue shopping. Even though Irina and Ines kept saying that they don't believe in the legend, they know it exactly.
"We are home, Mum." Irina and Ines walked into their house.
Eleanor smiled.
"How was work, Mum?" Irina asked.
Eleanor sighed. "Alright."
"What happened?" asked Ines worried.
"Nothing," replies Eleanor. "Just a bit tired."
"Have you guys eaten yet?" Eleanor asked.
"Yeah, we had dinner with Lauren at the shopping centre." Irina replies casually.
Eleanor looked at an old poster with her singing on the wall and sighed. Irina and Ines exchanged a look.
"Singing was way more exciting..." Eleanor murmured. Irina and Ines walked to Irina's room.
Irina closed her bedroom door.
The two girls sat on the wooden floor. "Should we tell Mum about Lauren?" asked Ines.
"Why?"
"She still believe in the story."
"So?"
"So we should be worried."
"Why?" Irina asked. "We have nothing to hide."
There was a silent moment.
"I am going to check on Mum." Ines stood up.
Ines opened the door, walking toward the lounge room.
There was only a small lamp on. She could see a glass of red wine on the coffee table along with a bottle of wine. Eleanor was sitting on the couch, sobbing.
"Are you crying, Mum?" asked Ines softly.
Eleanor said nothing.
"I really miss singing..." Eleanor finally said something.
"Then go singing again." Ines encouraged. "Be a singer again."
"It is not that simple...you know it..." Eleanor muttered and had a sip of her wine.
Ines didn't know what to respond. She left the lounge room.
Ines walked into Eleanor's storage room that is full of her posters, awards, photos with other celebrities. She looked at the everything slowly and carefully. She looked at Eleanor's smiley faces in each and every single photo as well as poster. Happy with confidence. Energetic with a bright future. This was her mother. The contrast between now and before, life with singing and without, have made a huge impact on her.
"I want to be a singer." said Ines firmly.
"What?"
"I want to be a singer." Ines repeated it firmly.
"Yeah, I heard that." Irina responded. "Mum will not let you to become a singer. No doubt on that."
"I don't care. I want to be a singer."
"Okay then go ahead." Irina shrugged, her eyes showed doubts in that idea. "Good luck with that." That sounded like sarcasm to Ines.
"I will be a successful singer." said Ines, she voice showed excitement with no doubt. "Watch me."
"Okay."
Ines left Irina's room.
