I rushed trying to get to the day care before eight o'clock to pick up the twins.
Three hours.
The meeting was held along for three whole freaking hours, for some douche bag who didn't even show up! To say my boss was angry was an under statement. I don't think I have ever seen another person turn so red before in my life. Gotta remember to NEVER get on that mans bad side.
I finally got to Noel's Day Care with about 15 minutes to spare.
"God Miss Libby I am sooo sorry. We weren't able to begin the meeting without this new business partner being there. But he couldn't show up because of something to do with the death of his daughters gerbil or something. So he-"
"Rayvn, dear, its alright." Said Miss Libby cutting me off. "You're like a daughter to me, and besides, I love spending time with the twins. They are so quiet, and surprisingly well behaved. Not like my other kids."
"Thank you Miss Libby" I said with a smile. I met Miss Libby about a year after moving back here to New York City. She used to run a small bakery but decided to hand it down to her daughter whom had recently got her BA in baking and pastry. She then moved in with her sister Miss Noel who is running the day care around the corner from my apartment. They both have been so nice to me. They helped me with my pregnancy, the twins, and everything in between. I couldn't ask for anything more.
"Oh, there you are Rayvn." I turned in the direction of Miss Noel's voice. "The twins are asleep upstairs in the nap room. I'll go and get the stroller set up for you." With a small smile, she disappeared down the hall.
I turned toward the stair case in front of me and made my way to the guest room.
Miss Noel runs the day care out of her penthouse apartment here in the upper west side. Its absolutely gorgeous, even with all the toys littered around the place. The first floor has a den, living room, dining room, laundry room, and a huge kitchen. The walls are a pretty lilac color, and the floors are solid oak wood. There are paintings leading up on the wall of the spacious white stairway with a beautiful crystal chandelier hanging in the middle of it. Oh the things I would do to live in a place like this.
And to think, this places rent used to be like $2,000 every month in the 1800's. The owners are trying to buy it from her since now, the place is worth over $750,000 dollars and they cant raise the rent due to the place being paid off already thanks to their....ancestors....being rich and every thing.
I walk into the nap room which is bigger than my entire apartment, what with it being an enusuit with a walk in closet that you could get lost in.
Ha ha just kidding......Not really.
Looking into one of the hanging baby cradles I see Peyton and Sawyer fast asleep. Being as gentle as I possibly can I pick up Peyton and put her into one of the car seats sitting near the cradle, then do the same to Sawyer. Taking a car seat in each hand, I slowly make my way out of the room and down the stairs.
When I get back down stairs I notice my brother standing at the elevator door, along with Miss Libby and Miss Noel.
"Nicky?! What are you doing here, aren't you suppose to be in Australia?"
"Just visiting my favorite baby sister." He replied with a huge kool aid smile.
"I'm your only sister, butt head." I said with a smile just as big. I set the twins down so I could give him a big hug. "God, I've missed you."
"Really?" He asks, pulling away and bending down to put the twins into their stroller. "You know that really shows what with all those calls and texts I get everyday."
