In the doorway, my worst nightmare stood. Clicking noises flooded the bathroom. Without thinking, I slapped my hands over my ears. It's head snapped toward me, and before I could react, it had me in its grip. It's claws sunk into each side of my neck. I flailed helplessly in its grasp. It tilts it's head as it... examines me. I yelp as two insect-like legs shoot out of its back. They begin to poke and prod at my head. As they move up my head, I realize what it is going for. I kick my legs violently. I scream as it begins to pull at the metal plate holding my skull and everything inside in place. There's a crunching sound as it pulls it away. A warm flow of thick blood pours down my face. My body goes numb, but I can still see and hear everything. My hands and legs twitch as it prods my brain. My vision begins to fill with static. My breathing begins to pick up, and my neck starts twitching. Then a voice floods my brain. Your race is finished. You can't stop it. A divine power shall reign where the sun sets from this building. You are powerless against us.

My eyes roll back as it pushes farther into my brain. The end time for your race is now. We've been waiting and watching. Now is the time. I hear a swooshing sound inside of my head. Sensation starts to flood back into my body, the curtain that hid my pain is ripped away. I let out a scream of agony as the creature pulls its claws out of my neck, but holds me by the head with its legs. You will know pain worse than this soon human. This is the end...

I drop to the floor like a ton of bricks. I can't move at all. My eyes follow the creature through the doorway. There's carnage out there. Broken bodies lay slumped in the room, blood everywhere. The man that stood by my bed was now just a headless body in a room full of dead people. I pull myself up against the wall. I'm sure I'm gonna die here. Alone. The silence is deafening. I feel hot tears of desperation to live roll down my cheeks. This is unbelievable...

There's yelling outside of my room. I tense up because it's all I can manage at this point. A group of nurses enter my room. I can hear them calling out. A nurse pokes her head into the bathroom. I push out a breathy grunt. She jumps and notices me leaning against the wall. Her hand claps over her mouth and she calls a few other nurses in. They all surround me, and begin tending to my wounds. And then they notice my head. They all look at each other, then back at me. My breath is coming in short gasps now as I fade in and out of consciousness. I realize that my hearing is gone when I see their mouths moving, but no sound coming out. A gurney is rolled into the bathroom. They pick me up as gently as physically possible.

The pain is too much to bare, and I lose consciousness. I wake up in a bright white room. It smells like rubbing alcohol. I go to sit up, when a sharp pain pulses through my skull. I reach up and feel a damp bandage wrapped around my head. A machine next to my bed beeps twice. The door swings open, and a doctor and nurse enter. They both have warm smiles plastered on their faces. The nurse goes around the right side of my bed to check my IV and vitals. The doctor says something, but can't hear him. I grip my sheets tight. A gentle hand, unlike that jerk bag in the other room, lands on my shoulder and sends a wave of relief crashing over me. I look at the nurse and she nods down toward my arm. I look and spot a syringe set to push through my flesh. The nurse flashes a questioning look, as if to ask me if I'm ready. I nod, and the syringe plunges into my arm. As the liquid inside is pushed in, I feel a warm sensation in my arm, which quickly spreads throughout my body. And before I know it...

Nothing.
