I just stood there and looked over at him, the thought of leaving him weighed heavily on me. Here we was our beloved pope and now I was just leaving him here helpless. He was far from being in his right mind and I was just walking away. As I turned my back I forced myself out the door filing the once quiet corridor with the clicking of my heels. What was to become of us? How did we get to the pit from the thriving city of Meliora? All the beauty of yesterday all faded and turning to decay. Leaving him was like leaving the dreams of yesterday all behind. The further I went down the hall the more I could feel the dread built up with each step. I wanted nothing to do with anything behind those doors. I walked up to the large double doors and just stood there, I knew there would be nothing more than disgust to greet me. I take a deep breath before walking in, within those first steps the smell of rot hit me instantly making me ready to hit the floor. It was putrid.. "Doctor Nielsen?" I called, looking around as my eyes began to water. "Ah yes, there you are sister." He gave a smile. "So nice to see you." Nielsen was an older man that spoke with a thick German accent. He was the one that we all called upon and held in high regards when the sickness came, he is our only hope. "Yes, I came as soon as I can. I hope you can forgive the delay..I was with a patient." He held his hand up. "Sister you do not have to explain to me, I find you dedication to the sick to be quite refreshing in this time." All I could do was fake a smile. He wasn't sick..just a shell of a once great man. "Now if you would follow me please." I looked at him but couldn't bring myself to move, the smell was making me sick I honestly couldn't take it anymore. "Doctor how can you stand to work through that smell? I haven't even been in here five minutes and it's making me just absolutely sick. I don't see how you can stand it." "Ah yes that smell.." He just continued to walk on. "That smell is exactly why you are here, Copia said that you would be the very person to be able to handle a situation such as this. "Excuse me?" I just follow him. "Such as what exactly?"
After stopping and giving a heavy sigh he turns to look at me. "It's heart breaking, our most majestic creatures have even fallen to this illness. But you see that however is where I come in. I have all the tools to perhaps combat this, give them a fighting chance all with genetics." I looked up at him just trying my hardest to follow along however it had done me absolutely no good at all. I just shook my head, then my eyes began to wander. "Doctor I don't believe I follow-" As I happened to look around the room something had caught my attention, at first glance I had no idea what it was but then the more I looked I noticed the white sheet with clumps of bloody grey fur. It was in piles. "What the fuck..." I slowly started to move towards it as Doctor Nielsen tried to speak but I was mostly drowning him out. "You see Copia referenced you, speaking of the compassion that you have for these creatures and said you would be most helpful to me." As I walked up to the table I felt my heart drop. "That fucking bastard!" I clenched my fist as I became blinded by tears. "He's dead!" I snapped walking past the doctor. "Sister wait!" I didn't even bother stopping I had my sight set on someone else and as luck would have it I caught his ass right in the stairway and gave him a swift punch. "What the hell?!" "You know exactly what Copia so don't even play that shit with me!" I was way out of bounds by grabbing him by the grucifix but I was too pissed and hurt to bring myself to realization. "You! You know what the fuck you've done to Phoenix!" Copia let out a snarl grabbing my wrists. Rage takes over his expression as he pins me against the wall. "That mangey mutt is the reason for such an outburst! You have got to be shitting me!" With a disgusted growl he just leans in close. "You best get your act together and remember your place sister..or you can happily join Emeritus for all I care." His words cold as he looked into my eyes, I struggled to get away but he would only tighten his grip more. "So go on..go act like a big girl and get your ass in there and we will forget about this whole little ordeal so go be the good little girl that you can.." "Oh fuck off Copia.." I growled as I walked away from him. "You could stand to watch that mouth of yours." I just stopped to look at him. "You could stand to act like a proper Cardinal..you was just handed this position so what could you ever know about hard work?" I said in a cold tone before walking away.
