The clear night sky was lit up by the numerous light posts and stoplights that scattered the city. Cars were rushing through the busy streets, as people flooded the crosswalks heading home after a busy day at work. Laughter, chatter, and other city sounds echoed throughout the roads as the workers went back home to their families and got ready to do the exact same thing the next day.
I had my back pressed up against the glass bus station as I took a sip from my water bottle and adjusted my earbuds. I looked upwards at the bustling city streets and let out a subtle sigh. Bouncing my back off of the glass, I noticed my regular bus coming at the regular time. I slid his bus pass out from my jean pocket and mounted the bus, allowing the bus driver to scan it.
"Good evening, Morgan" The bus driver said with a monotone expression, not even averting his gaze to meet mine.
"Good evening..." I said in reply as I boarded the bus and took my regular seat by the middle section of the bus.
It was an average city bus, in top notch condition. Some people say that the workers clean the bus every night to keep it pristine and up to the government standards. The bus was generally empty, although sometimes a family or two would board the bus together. Aside from that, it was a quiet bus where everyone would keep to themselves. Fliers scattered the walls in an organized fashion, categorized in order of the rainbow.
'It's nice to see something new,' I thought to myself as I observed the fliers. Typically the fliers that were posted around the city were dull and didn't really stand out. The only thing that people would generally write about would be job offers or missing persons.
I looked down to my government issued student phone and placed my finger on the circular button. Within a second, it scanned my fingerprint and unlocked my phone. I swiped through my music and alternated through a couple of songs and I rested my head against the glass window of the bus, looking outside.
Within 45 minutes of being on the bus, the scenery hadn't changed at all. After all, this sprawling city was the world. As I watched the people pass on the streets, driving in their cars and walking along I noticed something peculiar.
Those coloured fliers were out there as well, posted on streetlights and on the side of buildings. People passed them as if they meant nothing, but they were obviously out of place. Bright splotches of colour that lit up the monochrome city we all lived in.
As I sat up, I extended my arm and removed the pin from a violet flier and held the page down by my lap. The page was extravagant and somewhat odd. The font was faint and hard to read but in its own way it made me curious. Looking to the top of the page, I began to read.
Come one come all!
It is time we be made public, for it is us, the Tint Triads!
You may be wondering, what the heck is this group?!
Our goal is to dye this colourless world to suit us and
the future generations of our great city!
Oh wow! So cool! You must be thinking these things, huh?
If your ideas are similar to ours, please join us!
The Tint Triads are always welcoming!
As I pinned the paper back up on the wall, I let out a small chuckle.
"Jeez, what a waste of time..." I muttered to myself as a sat back down on my seat and pulled out my phone again. Rebellion groups would always come and go, but the Tint Traids have always been a group for as long as I can remember. Although, many people believe that they're whole organization just a joke created by adults and carried out by the youth. No members have ever been seen nor arrested, and they haven't led a single strike on the government. Although, an urban legend has been that they're planning for a large strike in the future but... That's been said for generations.
