///Mr. Sandman///

On a rainy day like this, I'm usually snuggled up in a blanket watching the large screen.

My favorite show. Kandy and James would usually air around this time, right before bed.

But something about today made me partake in other. There was a feeling of unease, a feeling of confusion lingering the air.

Just after daddy left I felt something were to happen. Something different.

If Daddy allowed me a phone I would've called him right away, I don't like being alone. I ached for company and this feeling was only worsening my crave.

Daddy told me never to open doors for strangers, never when he isn't around.

We live in the woods, with nothing but nature and its creatures to accompany us.

The nearest person would be three to four hours away, meaning safety is taken pretty seriously.

I had daddy's old jukebox playing.

Daddy loved the song Mr. Sandman, he'd sing it to me every chance he could.

Here I sat in my room, holding tight on the necklace daddy had bought me. Whenever I'm scared he'd tell me to hold it close.

The booming of lightning and shivering of trees made the hairs on the back of my neck stand.

A quiver went over me as my teeth clattered, near from breaking.

A small welp escaped my mouth. "STAY CALM" I'd yell to myself.

I'm a big girl.

Rain is the beginning of a beautiful sprout

Daddy would preach...

Though at times it's been proven to be true I still can't help but be scared.

I'm silenced by a knock on the door. An eeriness storms in the house. My heart picks up in beat and my hands start shaking all over again.

Daddy usually has his keys with him, he'd never knock.

I start hyperventilating. Who could be at the door at this time?

Daddy doesn't seem to have friends and he's never introduced me to his family.

The banging only gets louder and louder as the rain starts pouring. The hardest it's ever before.

A flash of lightning beams through the curtains making the shadows of the outside more visible.

"My car broke down please!" The person on the other side shouts, a muffled plea for help.

"Come on man, I can hear your music playing!" The bang only gets louder as another grumbling sound booms from the clouds.

What made it different was not the stress in this persons voice but the feminine structure.

Aside from my own, I've never heard another woman's voice before, not as present as this one.

Though shivering with fear and billons of supernatural thoughts I still felt this urge to help.

My curiosity was getting the best of me and as much as I hate to admit...that voice was pretty alluring.

"What do you want?" I ask, my voice shaky and interrogative.

"I just..." The person pauses. "I need shelter. My car ran out of gas a mile or two from here and the storm is crazy bad. Please I won't overstay"
