Lingering hope

When I walk through the city I always hope that someday I will bump into you. That I always dress up and look nice. I always hope that I will see you or you'll see me. I always walk the streets I know you most likely will be. But I've never seen you since the day I gave you your sweater back and you said "you look great".

It's been over four years. Part of me still misses you. You'll always have a part of my heart. I don't know how to live with the lingering feeling that someday, somewhere, we will meet again. You're the one that got away. For me. I miss elevator kisses. I miss how I would do anything for you.

I'll always have you with me. The lingering hope will always stay with me.
