A New Life

"Name please?"

"Timothy Wright" I answered back promptly, handing the woman behind the counter my driver's licence. "Here to see Doctor Orion." I slapped my hands against the cold table rhythmically, humming softly to myself as I waited on her to scan my ID

The woman barely glanced at the plastic card, and almost instantly slid it back across the counter for me to take back. "You're good to go in, Mister Wright." She nodded with a small smile.

I returned the smile "Thank you, Mrs. Rethe"

The woman pursed her lips and shook her head to the side, causing her precariously-balanced gray hair to bobble to the side "Timothy, I told you to call me Ellie." she muttered with a chuckle, turning back to her computer screen, the electronic device casting an almost eerie glow against her makeup-covered skin.

" I know ma'am, it's just not respectful. " I laughed, saluting the older woman, turning on my heel and walking to my doctor's office. This was a normal routine, practiced every Tuesday at 5:00 pm on the dot. The doctors and workers all knew me by now, and they all liked me, generally. Maybe because I turned my sweetness charm all the way up to ten. ;D

Laughing aloud at myself, I stopped in front of a door, the exact same as all of the others, except for the fact that this one was marked with a perfectly white sign that read the name "Matthew Orion".

I didn't even have to knock. My doctor already knew I would be standing outside the door. It was almost freaky how quickly he got my routine down. A husky voice said "Come in", and I opened the door a crack and peeked my head into the room "Hey, there, Old-timer."

The doctor, who was sitting in his chair, poring over the paperwork on his desk, frowned and glared at me "Watch your mouth, Hot-shot." He snarked back , his glare softening into a bright smile when he saw me. "Well, well, well, if it isn't Timothy. Sit down, sit down." He waved towards the chair that day across from him in front of his desk. The same thing he did every Tuesday when I came in.

I sat down and rested my foot against my knee, leaning back and smiling at Dr. Matthew Orion.

He was a kind man, and despite our running nicknames, he was only in his late-thirties. He had glossy black hair that he put, in my opinion, too much gel in. But, apparently the women liked it, since he's already been married three times. Hm, makes me wonder if I should shave old my old crappy sideburns and try to gel my hair. Maybe girls would be into me more......

"Penny for your thoughts?" Matthew asked, organizing his papers and putting them all in a drawer.

"Maybe I should try to shave my sideburns. Maybe I'd find a good girl, then." I replied, shrugging.

Matthew gave me a pitiful look, not even caring about my random outburst, since it was pretty normal for me to do that. Yeah...my mind's been all over the place since the entries. "Still haven't found anyone? I thought you were dating what's-her-name?"

"Stephenie? " I sighed, thinking about her "Yeah.....but, there's just something about her that doesn't feel right....I mean, she has good looks. Heck of a body. But, I dunno, it's just, like, the /way/ the looks at me. Like she wants to secretly kill me. Or maybe rape me. I'm honestly not too sure at this point."

" Right. " Matthew chuckled softly "Tim, you've been in and out of what? Five, six relationships? This one has stayed longer than everyone else, so that has to count for something. Also, your paranoia towards this young lady, Stephanie -"

"It's not paranoia!" I interrupted grumpily, resting my chin on my hand

"Hush, Sideburns." He frowned, continuing "She seems to be a lovely woman, from the way you first talked about her."

Ohhhhh, yeah. I forgot about that. I probably sounded like a teenager just going through puberty in middle school, the way I described her..........screaming internally, as I did quite often, I continued to listen to him.

"And perhaps it's just your past coming back. In that old hospital, I heard you ran away often. And I suspect that you grew up knowing not to trust anybody, that everybody is out to get you. Maybe it's the same way with this girl. Give it time, and if she doesn't kill you, or rape you, I would keep her."

I couldn't help but laugh at him "Yes, sir." I said sarcastically, saluting and crossing my eyes paired with a goofy smile.

"Oh, shut up. Anyway, anything else you need to talk about?"

" I just need more of my meds. But I can just get them from the pharmacy later. " I stood up and made my way to the door "Thank you, Dr. Orion."

"Drop by anytime, Sidburns." He replied back, getting out his paperwork "And bring that sexy woman with you, too, when you do."

Laughing and blushing slightly from his advice, I walked out of his office and made my way towards the exit of the building...
