When last we left our heroes, Lane and Virgil were celebrating their very first Pokemon captures in this new region:

· After the excitement dies down, Evan walks over and congratulates his new friends on their success; now if only he could do something even half as impressive, then this day would really be off to a good start

· Virgil asks Evan what he's talking about; if literally launching a Pokemon into oblivion with your foot doesn't count as impressive, then Virgil doesn't know what is

· Evan smiles and says that while that may have been cool, he was hoping to achieve something a little more...substantial

· Virgil looks at Lane and asks her what Evan means by this; Lane says that it sounds to her like Evan wanted to catch a Pokemon too and is just being a salty little bitch

· A look of surprise then embarrassment flashes across Evan's face as he vehemently tries to deny this claim; however his stammering completely gives him away

· Lane tells Evan that he has no right to be mad; he's already got like what? Three Pokemon? And both she and Virgil just got their second, it's not like he's even falling behind or anything

· Evan says that he knows and then tells Lane to just drop it, but Lane presses further telling Evan to admit that he's competitive and insecure

· Evan refuses to answer, which only makes Lane more confident in her assertions

· Unable to look at Lane's smug expression any further, Evan turns on his heels and suggests the group take a break as he goes to "scout the area"

· Evan disappears through the nearby foliage as Virgil wonders aloud if he will be ok

· Lane assures Virgil that Evan will be more than alright once he gets all the "butthurt" out of his system

· Virgil is somehow convinced by this and forgets all about being concerned; with a much sunnier disposition, he tells Lane about how this reminds him of "a time in Unova when..."

· As Virgil blabs on about his stupid flashbacks, Lane grits her teeth and does her best to ignore the most annoying force she has ever had to deal with

· After a while, Lane can't stand it anymore and gets up; she tells Virgil that it's time for him to shut up and for the two of them to find Evan and snap him out of his pity party

· The two follow the direction in which Evan went, but after several minutes they can't seem to find any trace of him

· They call out his name and try looking in several directions, but come up with nothing

· Evan has disappeared; he's straight up gone

· Virgil tells Lane that she shouldn't have been so hard on Evan

· Lane is silent for a moment, then says that she didn't think he was actually going to run off and leave them out here; she stares at the ground and mutters something about Evan being irrational as she kicks at a rock near her feet

· Virgil and Lane are uncertain about how to proceed; they aren't properly equipped to keep moving forward on their own, but they also don't want to go back to town and leave Evan to fend for himself out here

· Their useless deliberating is interrupted, as a flash of lightning shoots out from behind the bushes and knocks down a flock of Pidgey, which all hit the ground in a heap
