Thomas's POV

I kept the umbrella close to my body, as rain poured from the skies. I struggled against the wind as it tried to pull the umbrella from my grasp, leaving me without protection against the wild storm. My fingers were numb from the cold and my face was flushed with red. I rubbed my upper arm up and down with my other hand, trying to get warm, but no successful attempts.

It became harder to resist against the wind as it continued to pull my umbrella in different directions. My shoes were getting drenched from all the puddles I've walked through. I hate wet socks.

It was worse, since it was night, and the only light came from the moon, that lit up the road and the forest that surrounded me.

Suddenly, there was a strong gust of wind that managed to actually drag me, and make me let go of the umbrella. "Noo!" I screamed as I watch the umbrella become carried away by the wind.

Almost instantly, I begin to get soaked by the never ending downpour. I quickly grabbed for my phone from my jacket pocket, to see when this damned weather would end. But to my luck of course, my phone was dead. I let out a groan of frustration, deciding to do the last thing I ever thought I'd do. I outstretched my arm and stuck my thumb out.

I needed to get out of this weather, and the best way to do that was a ride. If I didn't get out soon, I was gonna get sick. I hate getting sick.

As I walk on further, cars pass by every now and then, but they didn't stop. It must have been 30 minutes already, and my arm was getting tired from holding it up for so long. By this time, I was soaked all the way through, and I couldn't stop shivering. I put my arm down in defeat.

Eventually, to my surprise, a Blue SUV slows down and stops next to me. The passenger window is rolled down and a boy around my age looks at me with worry in his eyes.

"Are you alright there? You look like you need a ride!" He shouted over the rain.

"Yes-s, that would b-be amazing p-please." I stutter from the cold. The boy gets out of the car and walks around the car to open the door for me. I let out a small "Thank you.", as I get in the car. The sudden rush of heat from the heater feels so good. He gets back into the car and turns up the heat as I get a good look at him.

He has damp golden strands of hair from the rain, deep brown eyes with tints of gold and green, a sharp jaw line but soft features, thin lips, and long eyelashes. I can't help but become breathless momentarily at the sight of the boy.

He turns to me with a kind smile, his eyes shining as he examined my face.

"What's your name, stranger?" He asks.

"Thomas." I reply shyly.

"Well, Tommy, what a pretty name for a pretty boy." He giggles. I'm completely blown away by his english accent, and did he just call me Tommy? And pretty? I feel my cheeks turn even more warm than they already are.

"Where you heading?" He smiles kindly.

Your bed.

"Where ever the nearest town is, my car broke down miles ago and I tried to find a nearby town for a towing service, but I haven't seen any. Then my umbrella was blown away and my phone died, and I spent 30 minutes in the pouring rain."

"I'm so sorry! Are you sure your okay? Do you feel sick? Are you hurt?"

"No, I'm fine, thank you, I'm just really wet and cold." I said.

"Okay, good that." He started to drive again, and the car fell into silence, except for the pitter patter of rain.

"So, what's your name?" I question.

"Oh, how rude of me! I'm sorry," He apologises, "names Newt."

"Well Newt, thanks for driving me. I know it can be weird to pick up someone from the side of a road in pouring rain at night." I chuckle.

"No worries," He responds, "I do this kind of stuff all the time. And the next town is in 25 miles, also my hometown."

"Thanks for sparing me the 25 miles, Newt."

"It no problem really, Tommy, I'm just doing what any good person would do." I blushed at his kindness. He turned to give me a heartwarming smile, and I gladly returned the favor.

"Mind if I turn on some music?" Newt asked.

"Sure." I said with a smile. He turned on the car radio, and random pop songs would play. Newt would hum along to them as I admired him without making it obvious. He was so beautiful, the most beautiful boy I've ever laid eyes on. He looked like an absolute angel, crafted by only the best parts of humanity by God himself.

After a few songs, Newt turns of the music and turns to me.

"You know it's gonna be raining for a few days nonstop right?"

"Wait, really?!" I gasp.

"Yeah, and during weather like this, the towing company is usually closed. So, your car may be lonely for a few days."

"Oh, no," I groan.

"I'm so sorry, but can I ask where you were going in your car?"

"Well, I've been traveling the country for a place the live, now that I've finished high school. And I was looking at some of the cute small cities around here. I came here from Oregon."

"Oregon?! All the way there to here in Minnesota? That's a long way."

"I know, but I've heard they have great colleges here."

"Yeah, I guess," Newt turns to look at me again, but then looks back to the road.

"So are you staying with anyone?"

"Oh no, I don't have family out here. But I've been staying at motels and stuff." I look out the passenger window as I watched the trees gradually become buildings. "I'll just stay at a hotel until the storm passes, I guess." I sigh. I wasn't looking forward to spending a few days cooped up in a room by myself.

"Well, I know we don't really know each other, but if you wanted to, you can stay at my place if you'd like. At least we'd have time to get to know eachother. But it's just a suggestion, I mea- I don't know." Newt got real quiet towards the end. I glance over to him to catch him blushing, and smile to myself. "I'd love to, besides, I don't wanna be alone." I accept shyly.

"Alright," Newt flashes the kindest smile at me, giving me butterflies in my stomach, and before I even realise it, we're parked beside the road near an apartment complex.

"We're here, Tommy."

Hey guys, I'm so tired.
I'm actually kind of happy how this turned out, and it's longer than I expected it to. I'll be making a part two to this and I'm still writing my new Newtmas story. I love the handful of you who actually read my shit, so thanks😴🤗
Hope you enjoy this and part two.
Much love
~Tim
