Volleyball Boys
We enter the hall next door where the net has been set up about half a metre higher than our net. We sit on the bench that has almost been filled with bags and half-filled drink bottles that the boys have left. We looked in awe at the two boys' squads playing a volleyball match against each other.
One team consists of Tom Dacey, Chester Sterling, Fraser Dunlop, Jo Heartly, Jamie Robson and James Baker.
The other team is Joe Dacey, Joel Roberts, Toby French, Tom Ketley, Dean Bradstean and Dan Hunt.
"Ooh the brothers are against each other!" Sophie blurts referring to Tom and Joe Dacey.
"Which team to support though? They're both so good!" Jo ponders. She places one hand on her chin as if she was searching her brain for an answer.
"I don't know about you guys but I'm definitely on Tom's team." I declare.
"I knew you would say that!" Jo mocks, while Sophie laughs.
"You guys are so mean to me." I pout.
We continue watching the boys play.
24-21. Such a close game.Joe serves. The ball tumbles across the net.
Fraser receives. He half-squats and holds his forearms open while the ball bounces off of his arms and travels high and slow in the air towards Chester.
Chester sets. He lifts his hands up to his face and caresses the ball, it then glides across the front court to position four, which is the position Tom is in.
Tom spikes. He takes three steps in. Planting his feet, he jumps two metres vertically in the air. He places his arm behind his head, then quickly whips it as fast as he can, hitting the ball half way through.
With speed, the ball makes a large exploding sound, viciously hitting the floor. Me, Jo and Soph cheer as loud as we can, banging our feet and hands.
"That's game guys!" Tom yells proudly. They all shake hands.
Tom Dacey is amazing. He's only 18 and already Captain's the Welsh under 20's. He's gorgeous. Perfect short blonde hair, which is always slightly quiffed to the right, with ocean blue eyes and is 5"11. He always plays number 1, just like me. At the end of this summer break, he's off to Uni in Essex. I'm going to miss him so much, he's like my brother (and a hot one may I add, but it would be weird dating my brother, so let's say... VERY close friend.)
"Hey gorgeous." Tom announces. He walks over and pats my head very gently with his right hand, slightly messing up my hair.
So sad a stunning guy like him would never go out with a loser girl like me. Sad life.
I smile at the thought of me and him being a thing. "So what are you up to now that training's finished?" He asks and I sharply snap out of my day dream.
"I dunno." I reply pretty hesitantly. I have to quickly make conversation with him so he doesn't think I'm weird, "I have no life outside of training, what are you going to do?"
"I'm off home, do you want to come round for a bit? It's gonna be so boring with just me and Joe." Tom admits.
Joe is very quick to respond, "Hey! But to be fair, I'm bored of you everyday." I don't understand how he heard us, he's about ten metres away and we're not even talking that loud!
Joe is exactly like Tom. Blonde hair, blue eyes, plays number 2. He is also beautiful - just like Tom. The only real difference is, Joe is 1 year younger than Tom. 17. He studies in the college I'm going to next year.
