Chapter 2: Thank you for the Early Dismissal

Nakakaantok. We’ve been waiting for like one and a half hour pero in the end din pala the guard will say, “Absent ang Prof niyo.”

“Duh. Dapat sinabi nalang agad na wala si Sir.”, Fibee said.

Fibee Alcaraz is one of my close friends here. He... I mean she is gentle, funny and considered as the class clown. He.. I mean she (PSHH) is fun to be with. With her bright smile- mawawala talaga ang pagka BV ng mga kausap niya.

I checked on my calculator/watch/calendar/timer (but basically it is a watch with many functions) on my wrist and realized that it is already 1:56 PM.

“More than a one and a half hour of waiting.” I sighed.

Supposed to be this is our Circuits Laboratory class but unfortunately, our professor is not present. Not sure of the reason pero at least kahit pinaghintay kami ng one and 56 minutes (almost 2 hours, yes) ay makakauwi kami ng maaga instead of 5:00 PM (since it is a laboratory class, it is always conducted five hours).

“Tara, girl. Kain tayo”, alok sakin ni Fibee as she stood up from her seat.

               I smiled at hi....er, her.

“May tatapusin pa kasi akong paperworks.” I said, sabay turo sa paper bag below my table.

“That sucks, Tin” Rafael said and sat beside me.

Rafael Sangalang is also a close friend. He used to woo me before ‘nung naging classmate ko siya for the first time in my English subject. Hindi lang talaga ako interested. But now, we’re good friends naman. I became close to Fibee because of him- kasi sila ang close originally.

“Iwan mo na kasi ang PE Department” he continued, sabay akbay sa akin.

I stood up on the instant when I felt the weight of his arm on my shoulder. “Haha. Yuck” ani ko.

Harry Tee suddenly entered to our conversation.

“Sa lahat ng student assistant, ikaw na ang pinakamalas na sa PE Department napunta. Look Jack, maganda ang buhay sa Language Department. And, he warned you about entering sa PE Dept na ‘yan. You didn’t listen, Tin!”

Harry Tee is my Filipino-Korean friend who usually hangs out with us. I also became close to him because of Fibee and Rafael. Jack, well, he is a fellow friend. He is a co-student assistant, but he is from other department, which is the Language Department.

“Hindi na nga aircon sa Department nila tapos kung pasagutan ka ng Math HW’s ng athletes nila ay wagas pa!” Rafael added, frowning.

Fibee sat on where I am originally seated and held my hand, “Girl... Hindi tutor ang in-applyan mo.  Student Assistant ka, girl” emphasizing the words- student and assistant.

Napailing nalang ako and told them, “Guys, alam niyo naman na gipit kami ngayon. Naudlot ‘yung padala ng parents ko for the past few months, diba, dahil sa nagcu-cut ng employees ‘yung company na pinagt-trabahuhan ng dad ko... Well, unfortunately isa siya sa natanggal.” Then I stopped and sighed deeply.
