Alice P.O.V.
In that day and age, teenagers couldn't live without their mobile phones, so I knew that taking them from the boys was an excellent source of motivation for them to come with me on his trip. I ran through the city streets, Simon and Isak chasing me about 5 meters behind. I knew exactly where I was going: the train station. Just when I was climbing the steps up to the station's entrance, I felt two large, muscular hands on my body; one around my waist, the other around my shoulders to keep me still. I felt a male body against my back, and when I squirmed trying to get him to release me, he tightened his grip.
"I hate to do this Alice," said a voice who I recognized as Isak's, "But give us back our phones and I'll release you. Then you can wherever you like."
Hearing his words made me burst out into laughter, leaving both Simon and Isak with confused looks on their faces. "I hate to do this Isak, but-"
I kicked him in the shin with my heel and elbowed him in the stomach when he loosened his grip. Once Isak's hands were off me and he was hollering in pain, I ran up the steps and entered the train station.
Isak P.O.V.
God, that girl was stronger than she looked. I bent over and held my stomach in pain where she had elbowed me, then I felt Simon's hand on my shoulder.
"Are you alright?" he asked, worriedly.
When I looked up at his face, his brown eyes met my blue ones.
"Yeah, I'm, uhm, fine" I said, standing up straight.
"You sure?" Simon asked, his eyes still not leaving mine.
"Yeah," I replied smiling reassuringly, "It's just a kick in the shin."
"Good," Simon nodded and took his hand off me, "Now we really need to find that girl."
Together, we ran inside the train station and looked around for Alice. The station was pretty small and not that many people were there, so finding her shouldn't have been too hard.
"Over there!" I told Simon, pointing my hand at a blonde girl headed towards the platforms. We ran after her all the way to the tracks, but when we git there she was no longer in sight.
"Hey Losers, over here!" said Alice, and we both turned around to where her voice was coming from. She held up our phones and waved them in the air before taking off down platform 5.
Simon clenched his fists and let out an "Ughh" before running after her, and I followed him down the platform. We ran all the way down the platform until we were standing in front of the very last train cart.
Alice took a large step and climbed onto the caboose (i put a picture at the beginning, it's basically just the back of a train where you can stand).
"Alice, get down from there right now!" Simon scolded, but Alice just smiled cheekily and said: "Who do you think you are, my dad?"
Simon breathed heavily out of his nose, but before he could say anything, the train's whistle blew.
"Better get on this thing quick boys," said Alice.
I looked at Simon, wondering whether we should take the risk, he looked back at me biting his lip, clearly also contemplating the decision.
The whistle blew again and without a thought, I pulled myself onto the caboose next to where Alice was standing. Simon looked at me with wide eyes, still unsure of what he should do. I reached out my arms towards him.
"C'mon Simon!" I said apprehensively since the train was starting to inch forward.
Simon shook his head slightly, I could tell he was scared and could see the vulnerability in his eyes.
"Simon!" I yelled. The train was slowly starting to move faster, soon it would be too late for Simon to hop on.
I watched as Simon looked down at his shoes, and for a moment I thought he was going to stay behind, then he started running towards us. He grabbed onto my arms and held tight as I pulled him onto the moving train, his feet leaving the platform at the very last moment.
Simon P.O.V.
I stood on the back of the train panting. I couldn't believe what I had just done.
"For a moment there I thought you'd stay behind," said Isak, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand then patting me on the back.
"Guess the pretty boy just couldn't resist the pretty face," Alice remarked, winking at me.
I didn't know whether she was talking about herself or Isak, but at that moment I had bigger things to worry about, like how we were a group of 15 year-olds riding the back of a train going who-knows-where!
"Alice," I said calmly "Do you know where the hell this thing is going?" Ok, maybe I didn't come off as that calm...
"Turin," she said satisfied "It's as far West as we could go from that station."
I took a deep breath in, trying to stifle my urge to lash out at her. "And tell me," I said slowly in order to contain myself "The reason we are riding illegally on this caboose is that you are the conductor's daughter, therefore, we won't get into trouble if we get caught, right?"
Alice simply looked at me with her mouth slightly open. "Uhm, no." She said. "We could very much get in trouble,"
"Great!" I said sarcastically waving my hands in the air "Just, great."
"Hey!" said Alice, clearly not amused by my sarcasm "This is great, we're getting 545 kilometers closer to Santa Monica."
"Uggghhhh! For the love of God!" I shouted, no longer able to contain myself "We. Are. Not. Going. To. Santa Monica!"
Alice didn't seem hurt by my words, and Isak just looked taken aback by my sudden burst of rage. Alice rolled her eyes and pursed her lips, then she looked at me and said flatly: "Then why did you jump on this train? You could've just stayed behind."
Part of me wanted to say "Well, you still haven't given me my phone," but now wasn't a good time to be a smart ass. I looked at Isak, who just shooked his head and shrugged. I turned towards Alice who raised her eyebrows expecting my answer, but I averted my gaze down to my shoes. I never answered her question. I couldn't answer. I didn't know what the answer was. Still today I wonder why the hell I hopped on that train, but I certainly don't regret it.
